The Ichi Koo problem can wait for a while, he thought as he walked down the hall, but if I screw things up with Asrial the Earth might be invaded and humanity crushed beneath the heel of the alien conqueror...I think. Or was that Urusei Yatsura? Or Tenchi Muyo? Or Robotech? Well, probably not that last one but...darn it, I can't believe I'm thinking this, but I should've paid alot more attention to anime and manga in my last life, even if it did distract me from the art.
As he walked into the kitchen, he decided that, for now at least, he would be polite but cool toward Ichi, and treat Asrial as a...well, princess.
He smiled somewhat half-heartedly as he sat at the table and was greeted by his family. He hated to treat a childhood friend like that, but until he remembered or found out what Asrial and her people represent for earth, Asrial would be his first concern.
"Morning Mom, morning Ricky."
Meanwhile, in high orbit...
"His name is Jeremy Feeple and he lives in a town called 'Quagmire'! He will be your new mate for life."
The picture, though not greatly altered from the original timeline, was different enough that noone laughed. The face showed little baby fat, the mouth was firm and strong, and rather than the goofy cluelesness of the original Jeremy Feeple, his eyes held happy contentment, as if he knew his place in the world, and it was exactly where he wanted to be.
Looking into those eyes, Asrial muttered "Maybe this won't be so bad after all."
A bit later, on Earth...
Jeremy loved soccer. He espcially loved playing against Arnie. Not against Arnies team, just Arnie. Oh sure, it might START as two teams, one with him and one with Arnie (noone was dumb enough to put him and Arnie on one team) but it always ended up just him and Arnie and a field in serious need of landscaping.
"Hey Feeple, c'mere!"
Jeremy sighed. time to meet Ichi.
