Of a woman with ash-blond short hair, who laughed and hugged her and tried to feed her bananas.
Of another woman with teal-colored hair, who smiled and patted her hair and cleaned her up when she got all messy.
Or maybe a man with iron grey hair, and glasses which seemed to be big enought to cover half his face sometimes. He was sometimes with a red-headed woman, who tried to pull her cheeks and coo at her. She didn't like her much.
Those are the good dreams.
But sometimes, the dreams were green and scarlet and screams.
Stand aside, girl.
Teal-haired mama on the floor, all red.
Stand aside. I have no quarrel with you.
Ash-blond mommy, standing in front of her. Bent over.
Just give me the child, girl. You could always have another, could you not?
Arms. Holding her tight.
Over. My. Dead. Body!
A blaze of silver and black, growing stronger and stronger---
As you wish, then.
Sometimes she remembers the silver and the black and the green.
And the dripping scarlet.
Just sometimes.
"---Hotaru! Hotaru where are you, you silly little---Come out of that cupboard this minute!"
"...Coming, aunt Usagi."
Tomoe Hotaru slowly shook herself awake.
Darn. She'd fallen asleep in here.
Again.
"Why on earth can't you sleep in your own room on your own bed, anyway..."
"But she's always so noisy when she has all those dreams, mama. Why do I have to share a room with her, anyway?"
Hotaru looked at the pink hair dancing at the edge of her vision, and sighed. She loved her cousin, but she could be such a pain...
"...Because we don't have enough rooms to spare, that's why."
"So clean out the storeroom! That was a bedroom to begin with, right?"
"...You clean it out if you want too so much, young miss. ---Hotaru! You're missing breadfast at this rate, you know that!"
Tomoe Hotaru was 10 years old.
