Sometimes, Petunia Evans Dursley dreams of a great glowing golden Light. Which sometimes looks like a young woman, and sometimes like nothing in the universe she's ever seen in her life.
But sometimes the times, the dreams are definitely worse.
Which is why she is looking at the cupboard now, in the middle of the night.
It's not that she doesn't know what's in it. She knows quite well.
If she opens the cupboard door now, there will be the same things in it that there always have been.
A suitcase that used to belong to her sister, and a denim bag filled with everything and anything that ever had had anything to do with her.
Including those freakish pictures which move, of a man with messy dark hair and glasses, and a baby.
She knows this.
She knows this.
And when at long last, with shakeing hands, she manages to get it open...
All she sees is the dust. And a suitcase and a bag.
"Petunia? Petunia, honey?"
Vernon Dursley worries about his wife, sometimes.
She had those nightmares, every once in a while. And she was so over-protective sometimes, of everybody it seemed.
Though that hadn't been all bad, he had to admit. They probably wouldn't have noticed Dudley's learning problems till much later if she hadn't kept on worrying and worrying about his grades, for instance. Now that he got special tutoring, his grades had picked up and he seemed to be getting along much better at school, which was all for the good, even if Vernon had been embarrased at first to admit that his son had problems in that direction.
Though about her preoccupation with Dudley's weight...He really didn't understand that at all, frankly. Well to be sure, Dudley was a little chubby...But it didn't warrent Petunia going all overboard and insist that the entire family sign up for swimming lessons, in his opinion at least.
Even though admittedly, a well-exercised Petunia was a slimmer and happier Petunia, so he really didn't have much to complain about, he supposed.
But those nightmares.
And her weird obssession with that cupboard. There's nothing in there but a suitcase, which seems to be jammed shut, and a demim bag. He's checked.
Vernon Dursley worries about his wife, sometimes.
But not too much.
They have a good life here, after all.
Together.
And so he turns toward the pitter-patter of small feet, and sighs.
"---Luna honey. Put Lina to bed and tuck her in, all right?"
"...OK, papa." says his big girl, and
"...OK, papa." chimes in the little one.
Her name is Petunia Evans Dursley, her husband is Vernon Dursley, and she is the mother of one son and two daughters.
Sometimes she dreams.
And once upon a time, she made a wish.
