"Are you done looking at yourself?" Ash asked lightly.
She made an interrogitive sound and turned to face him.
"You can look at yourself all you want, but I think that it'd be best to get a move on. I can't wait to get out on the road but... I don't want to leave before I tell my Mom about getting you."
Despite the fact that she didn't know exactly what he meant by that, she felt happy. By her reckoning, it was entirely possible that he wanted to show her off. That was good, since he wouldn't do that if he was displeased with recieving her.
Watching her nod, he grinned, and turned towards the door. "Time to go see my Mom!"
Though it seemed really silly, she followed him as he marched out the door.
Professor Oak glanced at the viewscreen displaying Ash's chamber as he heard the sound alerting him to the departure of one of the candidates. He was pleased that the boy was reacting so well to having a pokegirl, and seemed to be connecting well with her. That was one of his talents, and he seemed to be using it in full force.
Now he just had to hope that Ash would grow up, and was reasonably sure that his journey would help him do that, which was good. That walk of his was terribly silly...
Ash led Misty through the town almost like a proud papa. The pokegirl was all his, and was the first step on his journey to becoming a Pokegirl Master. He was certain that he could get her to become something special, and that he'd have the best relationship with her that he could manage. Both the 'Ash' and 'Ranma' parts of him agreed on that.
What they also agreed on was the fact it would be a good idea to see his mother. After all, it was only proper to say goodbye and get some last minute stuff. Of course, there were other reasons, such as Ash's need to show her how he was doing. But for Ranma, the idea of having a mother was something that had been missing from his life. His mother had not been around, and knowing that here he had a mother that he could talk to all he wanted was quite attractive. So, not that he'd admit it, he wanted to make certain to tell her what had happened out of some need to connect with her.
However, none of that showed as he opened the front door to his house with gusto and called out, "Mom! I'm back and I've brought my pokegirl!"
"Ash?!" came a happy voice, and his mother hurried out to stand in the living room. She looked from her son, to the pokegirl, and back again before showing him how closely she cared for him. "Oh my little boy! You're growing up so fast!"
Though he would have liked to answer, Ash had found himself being hugged to death, with his face smothered against her shoulder, and a pair of arms wrapped around his body in a crushing embraced as he gave muffled yells.
"Oh..? But then you haven't introduced me to your pokegirl..."
"GAH... Her name's Misty, Mom. She's a water AND fire type."
"Hmmm? How interesting... And she's such a cute little thing..," Mrs. Ketchum commented. "But I just hope that the two of you get along, and she takes good care of you. Just like you will her..."
Misty gave a happy little trill as she basked in the glow of her Master's mother's approval.
"Now, it's time for lunch..."
"But Mom..," Ash interjected, "We have to go to Viridian..."
"It'll still be there later, won't it?"
"Yeah, but..."
"I'm not about to let my only child go out into the big world without a good meal. So, come and eat."
He opened his mouth to speak, but thought better of it. Instead of refusing, he nodded in aquiesence before leading Misty to the kitchen while:
