"It's a mirror," said Ash, watching. "That's your reflection."
Misty made a curious noise as she set one hand on the glass.
Ash looked over the pokegirl now that she was standing. She was taller than he was, by nearly a head, but probably weighed less because she was so slender. She had hardly any figure to speak of, as if she were on the threshold of puberty even if that wasn't the case. The pokegirl was very human looking, as Ash had to know where to look to find the differences. The slight ridges along her ribs betraying the presence of gills, the webbing between her toes - which themselves took up more room on the foot than you'd expect on a human, the slim trail of sparse reddish fur that grew along the top half of her spinal column, the double eyelids, the slightly slick look to the skin. All were signs that this individual was not quite human.
BEEP!
Ash glanced at the wall monitor, while Misty had jumped back and was eyeing it uncertainly.
Approval.
Ash Ketchum registered.
Explorer Corps. Rank: Cadet Recruit. Ident: 201327
Misty registered as first pokegirl. Ident: 201327A
Ash smiled at that. He was on his way now. Or at least soon.
First Assignment logged.
Travel to Viridian Gym to obtain equipment and next assignment.
"You see that, Misty?" Ash asked the curious pokegirl. "First though, let's see if the Professor has any clothes for you to wear."
Hikaru Gosunkugi swept her long black hair over her shoulder and looked around. "Come along, Kodachi."
"Yes, mistress," responded the tall and leggy near-human with her. "We're not going to the station?"
"No, my pet, we're making our own rules and our own path in life," responded the goth girl.
"I see," said Kodachi, nodding once.
"No, you don't, but you will," promised Hikaru. "With your plant and poison powers we can become raiders and I can collect a number of pokegirls."
"As mistress wills," said Kodachi, nodding.
"Ash is also in the Explorer Corps?" asked Gary. "Well, too bad for him. It's going to be pretty bad for him to always be living in the shadow of a great trainer like myself."
"Don't underestimate him," said the Professor. "Your vulpixie is a fairly strong fire/fighting type, but that still leaves her vulnerable to water attacks such as Misty will develop."
"Not a problem," said Gary. "I'll catch a few more as I go, on my way to being a Pokegirl Master-rank."
Misty made a happy trilling noise as she looked over herself wearing clothes for the first time. She'd chosen a pair of shorts with suspenders over a yellow t-shirt, sneakers with ankle socks, and had pulled her hair into what might charitably be called a wannabe ponytail.
