But worst still, had to be what she was seeing on TV. The media was labeling her and Sailor Neptune as TERRORISTS! “Those freaks must have the media brainwashed or something,” Haruka grumbled as she gulped down another brew.
“Hardly,” came a rather cold voice from behind the blonde woman.
Haruka spat out her beer all over the TV screen. She sharply turned in her seat to stare back and indeed saw the green-tressed woman standing there. “Setsuna! Where the fucking hell have you been!? It’s been chaos out there, for Chrissake!”
Setsuna raised an eyebrow at Haruka’s behavior, it seemed like the blonde finally snapped, and looked all around her. Such a mess this was, and in just a couple of days. And...
And...
...
Were those her Faberge Eggs!?!?
“Haruka...” Setsuna spoke up, her eye twitching slightly.
“What!?” Haruka snapped. “We don’t have time for idle chitchat! We need to figure out what the hell to do about these monsters putting down the Senshi’s name!”
The green-haired woman narrowed her eyes at Haruka, she definitely snapped. “Have you seen the princess lately? Or any of the others for that matter?”
Blinking her eyes in surprise, Haruka answered, “No...” Her eyes widened. “But you’re right!” The blonde shouted before going into a rant. “We need to gather everyone for this! It’ll be an ultimate showdown! The Sailor Senshi versus those freaks of nature!” She shook a righteous fist. “I’ll get my Hotaru back!”
“I don’t think so...” Setsuna said slowly so that Haruka heard her every word. “That stunt you pulled last night, bombing the Splicing Center, resulted in you destroying all of the original DNA samples from the patients.”
Haruka nodded her head. “Yeah, the TV mentioned that a lot last night and this morning.” She grinned with pride. “Without the originals, there’s no way they can change more people,” She said, obviously thinking that the vault held all the animal DNA.
“Without the originals, the Spliced people can’t be changed back,” Setsuna said flatly.
The blonde woman’s eyes opened wide with that statement. “WHAT!?”
“Not only that, but in destroying those samples you also prevented the princess and the other Senshi from returning to their original forms.” The green-haired woman leaned down to take a better look at her eggs. Yup... Totally destroyed.
Haruka’s mind was already reeling over this. Hotaru would be stuck as a freak? And it was all because of her!? No! This had to be a trick! This had to...
...And then the rest of what Setsuna said caught up with her mind. “Wait, wait! What about the other Senshi?”
Setsuna straightened and looked at Haruka in the eye. “They all got spliced as well.” Haruka didn’t need to know that Michiru was starting to consider getting a Splice for herself.
Haruka’s lower jaw gaped silently as she just stared at the green-haired woman for a long while before it finally shut. A new resolve was born within the dumb-as-a-brick Senshi of Uranus, one that burned as brightly as the sun. “I KNEW IT!” She shouted at the top fo her lungs. “This is obviously some horrid plot by some fiendish animal monstrosity person to take over the world! And the others have obviously fallen into such a fiendish trap!” She got up from her chair and walked over to Setsuna, grabbing and shaking her by her shoulders. “It’s up to you and me now! As the last two normal Senshi, we’ll right these horrendous wrongs, clear our names, and triumph over this despicable evil!”
Setsuna, for the first time in centuries, smiled evilly. “Oh really?” She ever so slowly started to grow fur as her body started to grow in size.
Haruka’s eyes widened to the size of dinner plates as she saw the woman change from a regular human into one of... One of... “YOU’RE ONE OF THOSE FREAKS!!!” Haruka shrieked accusingly as she practically jumped back, tripping over the foot ottoman and falling backwards onto her ass. Hesitantly, Haruka stared up at the Panthress-woman that slowly stalked towards her.
Setsuna looked pretty intimidating in her panthress form, easily being a foot taller and more filled out which stretched her clothes to its limits, as she leaned down to glare at Haruka. “You don’t get it, do you? Do you need me to spell it out for you!?”
“S-sp-spell what out?” Haruka asked; stuttering her question.
“People like YOU are the reason why the Silver Millennium came to an end!” Setsuna growled angrily, being reminded of times long past. “It was people with no tolerance that brought it down to destruction!”
Haruka stared in shock at the Panthress. Setsuna was blaming HER for bringing an end to the Silver Millennium. “W-what!?”
“The Silver Millennium wasn’t perfect. Nothing is,” Setsuna admitted somewhat calming down. “But it was people that refused all kinds of change and didn’t accept differences from what they thought was right that eventually brought everything down.”
Haruka just stared up at Setsuna. “So... What about these frea... Er... Furs?” She asked, trying not to piss off the Senshi of Time.
Setsuna snorted in annoyance and crossed her arms over her now even-bigger breasts. “What about us?”
“You’re saying it’s bad to keep things the same... But how are...” Haruka had to pause again. “How are Furs ‘good’ for the future?”
Shaking her head, Setsuna sighed. “Hotaru-chan benefited from being Spliced. Without it she would’ve remained in a constant weakened state.”
“... Anything wrong with that?” And as soon as Haruka said that, wished she could take her words back. Yeah, it made the younger girl easier to control, but she knew that wasn’t what Setsuna would want to hear!
Setsuna outright glared at Haruka. “I will forget you said that just this once.” It was a VERY sore subject with her.
Haruka nodded her head slowly. “So... What now?”
“Now you go see the princess and apologize!” Setsuna commanded. “And don’t even think of avoiding her! She’ll be even angrier if she has to find you.”
“Er... Uh...” Haruka looked back and forth the room for inspiration, wondering if there was some way she could get out of this.
“And Haruka...” Setsuna said as she slowly shifted back to her human form. “Do try not to break invaluable pieces of art in the future.” With that the Guardian of the Gates of Time walked out of the room.
Haruka blinked her eyes. What invaluable pieces of art?
