Makoto blinked at him. "What does that mean?"
"Basically it'll be a tough run, and one that will let you see how hard you can push yourselves.
"Really..."
"Cross country, of course."
"Of course."
Rei poked her head in between the pair and asked, "I'm glad that someone understands this, but would you care to explain it to those of us who don't?"
"It's really simple. You run a specially designed course in a certain amount of time."
"Really. And that means..."
"That it's not just a run around a track. There'll be obstacles and all sorts of problems to deal with, like different types of paths, and possible messes," the emerald eyed girl replied.
"I see... But what's the point of that? Exercise?"
"There are three points that I can think of, but that is one. However, it also gives you something to beat, and lets you see just how limited you are."
"Oh..."
"You pretty much got it. You work out much?" Ranma asked.
"Well... yeah..," Makoto replied. "But not like you want us to. Mostly I've done some more... traditional stuff. Even went to a place up in the mountains once..."
"That's good to hear, and you're definately right that I won't be training you that easy."
Minako gave off a little whimper. "How hard are we talking about?"
"Not that hard, but it'll definately be a challenge. Want to build up your stamina and toughness, and can't do it with just a simple run. Though I didn't get all that I wanted..."
"What could you be missing?"
"The wolves. My Pop trained me that way, but they won't let me have any to do the same with you guys. And then there is the fact that they wouldn't let me have anything else. I mean, they could have let me have at least one hive of killer bees."
"'Killer bees'?"
"Yup. Too bad though. It means that I've had to be creative."
"I'm not sure that I like the sound of that," Rei muttered.
"You're not supposed to," he replied.
The girls looked at each other while:
