Symbiont Arkangel: Resistance is uselessful [Episode 126595]

by Kestral

The resistance suits simply increased resistance to movement. They were all set on the same level, which would make any movement in them take five times the effort it would normally.

For various young girls it was difficult, though not overwhelmingly so. Makoto had the least amount of problem and did a set of stretching exercises with the suit active.

The others were having more trouble. Ami, surprising some of those who knew her, seemed to adapt fairly quickly. She likened it to swimming, the resistance of the water to movement - though this was more like swimming through some really thick syrup.

Minako and Usagi were groaning and moaning and stretched flat out on the ground.

"Okay, is everyone ready?" Ranma asked. "Good because ready or not, you're going now."

"You said your father did something like this?" Usagi asked, crawling on all fours.

"Yeah. 'cept he used sandbags and rope, and this isn't a marsh, and I couldn't get any wolves," said Ranma, sounding terribly disappointed.

"Lucky us you're such a softie," growled Haruka, wanting nothing more than to wipe the forest with a certain boy's face.

"Yeah, but I worked out something nearly as good," said Ranma leaning back against a camouflage-netted big metal box marked with "Danger" and "For The Love Of God, Don't Open This" stickers.

"Uhm," said Minako, moving enough to point. "What's in there?"

"You don't know and you don't want to know," said Ranma ominously. "You get a full sixty seconds to run before I open this. Stay on the path, reach the far end before THEY get you."

Each of the Senshi, from Mercury to Pluto, stared at the section of fence as if they expected something out of nightmare to come out when that latch was pulled.

Setsuna looked at the top, saw barbed wire and how heavily fortified the trailer-sized enclosure was. She wouldn't have been too surprised if Ranma had absolutely nothing in there, but this was just a psychological ploy... No, waitaminute. This was Ranma Saotome. She'd had a chance to read up on him. She sincerely doubted he could spell psychology, and she wouldn't expect him to be able to come up with a ploy that would fool the average ten year old. So it had to be real, therefore...

Minako stared at the crate, picturing slavering velociraptors flown in especially for her.

Usagi glanced up, saw the trailer-sized crate, and her own imagination went the same way, seeing the potential for dinosaurs in her near future. "EEP!"

"You may begin," said Ranma, looking perfectly relaxed. "Now. Fifty five seconds remaining."

"Sixty seconds headstart?" asked Rei, looking uncertain.

"Agghhhh!" said Usagi, moving at a fairly impressive crawl.

"I admire your confidence," said Ranma. "Fifty seconds."

The Inner Senshi all looked at each other, then at the trail leading off into the woods.

Watching them stagger off down the trail, Doctor Tofu glanced at Ranma then began looking over the crate. "I hope you don't have anything dangerous in there."

"No, I wasn't able to get anything dangerous, and it is their first day," said Ranma. "A martial artist's life is filled with hardship."

"So what is it?" Doctor Tofu asked, curious at this point.

"Something I ran into during one of my training journeys," said Ranma. "Not dangerous but annoying as all heck."

A grunting noise erupted from within the enclosure. The walls shook.

"You didn't," said Doctor Tofu as he made a connection.

"I did," admitted Ranma.

Doctor Tofu looked down the trail where the various Senshi were stumbling. "Oh dear."

"Three, two," said Ranma as the time ran out, reaching for the release. "One."

Swarming out of the crate were:
