The Autobot medic turned to face Optimus Prime as he entered the med-bay. “They’re just dandy Prime, only energon-depleted to the lower double digits near the singles. They’ll be fine in a few nano-clicks.”
Optimus nodded as Rachet went back to typing commands into the console for the CR-Tanks the three Bots were inside. “..I wonder who the Fembot is.”
”Other than her name, Skyfire didn’t get anything else out of them before they went into sleep mode.” Rachet replied checking their vitals as the console beeped. “Well Grimlock is back to 100%, shall I let him out?”
Prime nodded, “do it, I want some answers.”
With a nod; Rachet pushed a button and Grimlock’s tank stopped and made a hissing sound. The nano-tech liquid solution slowly drained out of the tank through vents on the bottom. The bolt-locks on the door popped open, allowing the flip-open door to come up allowing entry and exit of the tank. After a few nanoseconds, Grimlock’s optics slow came online; the Dinobot commander groaned as he slowly stepped out of the tank, eyeing the room as his data tracks started to remember his surroundings.
”Welcome back Grimlock; how do you feel?” Grimlock turned his head to Optimus who took a step closer to him.
”A little like slag…but also a little bit elated.” Grimlock turned and in a surprising move, gave Optimus a slap on the back and a brief one-arm manly hug and pulled back. “But overall me glad me home finally.”
Optimus blinked, not expected such emotion from the usually thuggish and ruthless warrior. “I see…how long were you gone?”
”Twenty-five years too long,” Grimlock replied. “Not a long time for you, six months right?” He got a nod from both Rachet and Prime. “That long for you, longer for me, Blaster and everyone else with us.”
”Not impossible to believe considering our own encounters with time and space anomalies.” Rachet mused.
Optimus nodded in agreement, and went ahead to answer the unasked question. “Megatron and his goons have been surprisingly quiet while you were gone, we had a few scuffles but I feel Megatron is up to something big.”
Grimlock shook his head, “not surprising considering Megs MO, and thanks for the update.” He looked over at Rachet and then at the tanks. “When will they be out?”
“Give or two a cycle, they’re almost done.” Rachet says as he re-checks their vitals. “How come you were all so depleted?”
”Battle, we had a scuffle before we gated out of our last location, not powerful per say but lots of em’ in numbers.” Grimlock explained.
”So who’s your new lady friend?” Rachet aimed a thumb at LightGate’s tank.
Grimlock was silent for a moment. “A friend, we met on the journey as for her full story, that isn’t my place to tell. It is…complicated. You want details you need ask her for yourself.”
”Sounds fair enough,” Optimus said, he then placed a hand on Grimlock’s shoulder. “A lot about you has changed my friend, you seem…different.”
”Twenty-five years of the slag I dealt with change even a Decepticon with piston rod up waste disposal unit.” Grimlock retorted. “It is hard to stay the same hard-assed Bot when you go through what everyone and I else did.”
Optimus gave a slow nod, Grimlock really seemed change; before he always seemed possessed to do battle but yet now he seemed serene, calm, and wiser. Optimus figured a lot of slag must have happened as Grimlock put it; but he’d ask later he was just glad to have his missing friends back.
A beeping sound informed the Bots present that Blaster and LightGate were back to 100% operation status; as their tanks drained off and opened. A flicker of their optics and grunt or two later, both stepped out of their tanks.
Maybe now with all three mechs online, Prime (and you readers) could get the answers to the questions he inquired about.
