"Ya-chan..," Rushuna murmured, noticing that her partner was rather surprised by the current situation.
"Don't 'Ya-chan' me! Do you know what sort of person he's supposed to be?!"
"Those are just stories!"
"Right... But the fact that he's got such a large bounty on his head does make it more likely!"
"He wouldn't do that sort of thing!"
"How'd you know?!" he asked, having all sorts of visions of bad incidents going on in his mind.
"I... I know. Just trust me. Okay?"
"You, I trust. Guys that I only know through reputation, I don't! Do you have any idea of what he could do to us?!"
"It... It'd be better than you'd think..," she hedged.
"Oh, that's reassuring! Damn it! One of these days, I'm going to find a way for us to both go towards fights and not put ourselves into danger!"
"Ya-chan?"
"I didn't think that you could find more trouble, but you have. But I guess that I'll have to do what I can to keep you from getting more problems on that head of yours."
"Ya-chan..."
He crossed his arms over his chest and scowled. "The way I figure it, if you're going to keep on getting into this sort of mess, I'll have to keep an eye on you. Someone has to."
"I can handle myself..."
"You want to follow a man with a massive bounty on his head across a desert that's got some of the worst dangers around. You'll need help."
"I... Thank you, Ya-chan."
"You're welcome. But at least his bounty will have one benefit."
Rushuna blinked at him. "What's that?"
"He can't try to get yours. He'll have to risk getting caught himself if he tried to get the payoff. But we'll be dealing with trouble either way."
"You think so?"
"Either he's a dangerous killer, or he's pissed off someone who's really got a lot of money to burn. But it'll still mean trouble for us. Man... How do these things keep on happening?"
"I don't know... But he's not a bad man. He's very nice."
"If you say so..," he told her with a sigh.
"I do," she told him softly, wishing that she could bring herself to tell him the truth. However, it wasn't easy to even think of the words, never mind saying them. After all, she didn't know how to tell him that Vash was her father.
