Not that he'd intended to leave himself open to attack, but he was well aquainted with this sort of problem. After all, he'd been bashed by blunt objects borne by females before. Every piece of training was telling him to run, but experience, and certain other emotions were saying that it would be futile. He wasn't sure where this had come from, as he'd never held himself as an expert on the fairer sex, but he was reasonably sure that each girl was first given something to bash a guy with at her crib side, or something like that. But at the moment, he wasn't worrying about why it seemed that he was getting constantly hit with all sorts of junk by girls. Rather, he just wanted a reprieve from the pain that was coming his way.
Thankfully, Froderick decided to supply just what he wanted. "How did this happen, with the attacks from the weapons?"
"They're tryin' a new way to get me to date them or somethin'," Ranma replied, noted with a happy sigh that their attack had been sent off balance.
"It is what girls are supposed to do," Rei commented.
"Yeah. So, we decided to do it right, though it doesn't seem to be working," Asuka agreed.
"So we have decided to adapt our approach to gain our desired results."
"I don't think that we'll get it now, since I don't think doing it in front of an audience will cut it."
"Be that as it may," Froderick commented, "This interruption would be more important than your play."
"How's that?"
"Another magic expert is visiting our house, so that the problems with this new spell we may douse."
"Oh..."
"You want to work on that spell again?" Ranma asked.
The older man nodded. "You will be needed so that all our repairs will be heeded."
"I'm not sure about this..."
"Do not worry, but our visitor does work in a hurry."
"Terrific."
"This experiment we will have help on, from my collegue Garson."
"I believe that you're talking about me," commented a new voice, as a tall, middleaged man came over to them. He stroked his dark beard, and looked at the pigtailed boy. "So you're the young creator of the spell."
"Yeah..," Ranma grumbled, "So?"
"I'm a troubleshooter of sorts. I'm called in when there are some problems, and you sound like you have one."
"And what am I supposed to do about it?"
"Cast the spell."
"That's all?"
"At first. I want you to do your best, and I'll watch to see what might be wrong with your spell."
"Okay. If ya say so..."
"That's a good boy," Garson replied, and seemed to wander away.
"Grrr..."
"Now, now... Come, and the spell working is what we show how," Froderick mumured, and guided the group off to the lab, where the ingrediants for the spell were already set out. He let a grumpy Ranma double-check them, and then stood back as the boy got to work. At each part, he nodded, certain that everything was going as it should.
Then came the actual work, and Ranma did the spell, with a mist coalesing into a humanoid form. Slowly, a solid figure became visible, until in the end, someone was standing where the cloud had been. Once the last wisps floated away, it became clear that standing before them was:
