Rei and Asuka were out there, he knew it. They were going to try defeating him so that they could date with him. Or marry him. Or something.
On the one hand, they knew most of what he knew. They even had some interesting special techniques. They learned really darn quick too - Rei was a faster learner but Asuka was a lot more enthusiastic about it. Typically Asuka would charge in and Rei would just hang in the background and analyze, striking when she thought it would do the most good. This whole thing addressed one of his major concerns, which had been that his martial arts skills would get rusty while he was learning this Wizardry stuff.
They could utilize magic or chi, Ranma was thinking chi and Froderick thought it was magic. Rei doing those cold attacks, Asuka had fire. Together they could probably make one heck of a Hiryu Shoten Ha.
On the other hand, it was getting kinda bizarre to be attacked at odd times.
There!
Ranma ducked low and sprang to the side, just before a completely silent Rei shot past him to land on the ground. She reached down and spread her fingers on the loose soil, seemingly dazed by her own attack.
Then Asuka was there, the beginnings of fire around her fists as she charged up for her "Burn Knuckle" attack.
Ranma ducked and dodged and wove backwards until he felt his feet slip abruptly from underneath him. "What the - ?!"
He realized what had happened before his back would have struck the ground. It had rained last night, the ground was moist and it was still chilly outside. Rei had added her cold to the damp earth and created a sheet of ice.
Ranma rolled as best he could off the thin but really hard and slick surface, avoiding the fire attack Asuka had followed up with.
"Flamethrower!" called out Asuka because all martial artists announced their special attacks. At least that's what Ranma thought.
Ranma eeped and dodged wildly as a cone of flame erupted from Asuka and barely avoided burning his pigtail. Hmmm. Asuka was panting and looked dizzied. New special technique and using it pretty much seemed to drain her. Probably get better with more practice. "That's all ya got?"
"It appears we shall have to resort to our final manuever," said Rei calmly.
"Yes. I didn't want to resort to it," complained Asuka.
"Uh oh," said Ranma, not liking the sound of this. On the other hand, this did show him that the two were pretty good at the Art (they had copies of his own knowledge of the Art, so it was a reflection on him as to how good they were, therefore acceptable to his own pride) and capable of learning. "Isn't it about time for breakfast? I could sure use something to eat!"
Rei and Asuka went back to back and adopted 'ready' stances. They spoke as one. "Saotome School Of Martial Arts: Final Manuever!"
The two leapt into the air. Ranma tried to anticipate their attack and keep track of their manuevering. A new special end-manuever?
Again the two spoke in unison, showing signs they'd practiced. "Hammer Time!"
Seeing Rei and Asuka produce mallets out of nowhere, Ranma froze for just a second:
