Here he was, Ranma Saotome with an enhanced intellect - about to become a master of magic. Would this do the trick? Would he have control of his life or would circumstance continue to control HIM?
He'd read some of this 'Slayers' manga, and he'd felt some odd kinship for (oddly enough) Zelgadis.
* Zel had been cursed. Ranma had a curse. Both were trying to get rid of that curse.
* Zel was a swordsman who had spent his life trying to get stronger. Ranma could get behind that.
* Zel preferred a cool and competent image, even when he was the target of slapstick. Ranma could sympathize.
* Zel was often being mistaken for a villain and being attacked out of the blue. Ranma could empathize with THAT.
Yes, Ranma could empathize with the dashing cursed swordsman. Though frankly he thought Zel's curse was a lot better than his own curse. Okay, having to get someone to use a hacksaw to give a haircut was a problem. Compared to getting groped by Kuno, he felt it was less problematic.
On the other hand, a Drill Brand on Kuno - that could be amusing.
Ranma checked the time and in between one second and the next - things changed.
