It was still going to take some work.
Sitting down at a cafe in Milan, c. 2008, he opened his Power Book, and began accessing. He gave himself twenty fingers, just so he could speed type. He gave that up when he somehow managed to tie his fingers up in knots. Oh well.
It helped that there were certain elements that mapped over. Magic existed and was one of the major things to distinguish fantasy from sf or some other genre. Fighting techniques existed. It wasn't a perfect match by any means, but it was workable.
Of course, Ranma had already wished he was 'smarter and stuff' - so his path in life had already changed.
Hmmmm. He'd have to change a few things to fit the setting a bit better. Certain elements of the series weren't that close to anything found locally. There was a nearly endless stream of annoyances and frustrations, but that was nearly everywhere - villains one had to go furhter afield than a Japanese suburb. Still, a construction engineer had shown Ryoga the trick of the ShiShi Hokoudan. With such things scattered about and magic available, one could find villainry and quests and such if one looked.
Oh, now HERE was a possibility.
Ranma went back to the Tendo Dojo, feeling very good about his future and wanting to kick a panda to the moon.
He'd seen one absolute undeniable truth. His father's plans mainly worked out in the long run, but usually involved a great deal of personal suffering - for his son especially.
Nope. Not going to happen. He'd only read through the first four volumes and flipped through the final one dealing with some chicken-boy named Saffron and some crap in China. Not gonna happen.
