Nuclear Fusion - Reunion: Rest Times [Episode 128825]

He didn't know how long it took, but Gohei found himself able to crack his eyes open enough to see the sky above him. It was better than he feared that he'd see, as he'd fallen off a cliff, bounced along some rocks, and slammed his back down onto a ledge. Fortunately, it seemed that it had worked out for him, as the hits he'd taken had resulted in a slowing of his fall enough so that when the last one came, it had merely knocked him out.

That still left him with a lot of the cliff looming over him. It was like a giant wall to one side, giving a bit of solidity to what had happened. A glance let him see that he was laying on an outcropping, and it seemed strong and large enough for him to sleep the night away.

It was a pretty nice spot to do so, after all. The wind was pretty much blocked by the rocks, and he wasn't likely to fall off. No animals could get to him, and he didn't have to go far to start climbing the cliff. Trying to get back up to the top now would be too much trouble, and take him all night.

Instead, he'd merely wait until morning, and get back on their trail then. He could track them down, and take special care to make certain that they wouldn't get so lucky again. She wouldn't see him, and that boy wouldn't be able to run away and let a cliff do the work for him. Then he'd had the satisfaction of having beaten them on his way to getting his true targets. There was no rush after all.

Not that he couldn't have climbed that cliff right then... really.

Looking up at the stars, Rushuna remembered how she had laid underneath the night sky as a child. Back then, everything had been so simple and innocent, and she'd been certain that everyone was as happy as she had been. That was a time that she'd always remembered fondly, and remembered every time that she'd camped out. And as she considered what else had made it so special, she sighed.

"Something wrong?" Yajiro asked from where he lay on his own bedroll.

His words startled her a bit. "Huh? No, nothing."

"You sure? You could talk about it."

"Just memories. I thought that you were asleep."

"Nope. I was just enjoying how quiet it was."

"See? A simple peace is so much better than fighting, isn't it?"

"Yeah. But you know what?"

"What?"

He gave a small chuckle. "We should be able to get to the waypost tomorrow anyway, but it'd be best to get some rest."

"That's true... A good night's sleep is always a good idea."

"So, good night."

"Good night!"

"And Rushuna?"

"Yes?"

"Sometimes dreams are better to focus on than memories or reality."

She nearly sat up, but she saw that he had already rolled over onto his side. As she looked at him, she smiled, but didn't say a word. Rather than continuing the conversation, she laid back down and found it a bit easier to relax. Her tension left, and she was able to focus on the past without any bitterness.

That allowed her to fall asleep with a smile on her face, while:
