After the “landings”, Diamondbacks were quickly escorted out of the hangers as armed guards formed a perimeter around the alphas. Dr. Lang and his team went work, to find out just where exactly these strange new fighters came from.
Then pilots were led to sickbay and blood samples were taken of all the pilots. After that the pilots were escorted to pilot country.
Rick and Dana had found themselves in the same briefing room that Rick, Lisa, Max, and Ben had been debriefed in when they were rescued by Skull after their escape from the Zentraedi so long ago.
Sitting at the table was Captain Gloval, Colonel Mastiff, Dr. Lang, Commander Hayes and Roy Fokker.
Then the debriefing began, three hours later.
Admiral Rick Hunter told them everything: the Rain Of Death and how the first Robotech War ended with the final deathtoll of six billion humans. The reconstruction, then the Malcontent Uprisings and how the insane Zentraedi Khyron fanned the flames of unrest. The destruction of the SDF-1 and the newly built SDF-2 in a kamikaze run.
Then colonization efforts and the construction of the SDF-3, and it’s mission to find the Robotech Masters and negotiate with them; and if necessary, to use a little gunboat diplomacy on them. How it failed because of a mishap with the SDF-3 folddrive arriving five years too late. How the REF fought a different war to liberate Triol and the surrounding systems from the Invid regent.
Then Lt. Dana Sterling began her tale of the rise of the Southern Cross and of how the UEG, REF, and loyal Zentraedi were forced off-world. Of the second Robotech war, and the war against the Robotech Masters and their search for the stolen Robotech factory with the protoculture matrix hidden deep inside the SDF-1. How the Robotech Masters and Southern Cross annihilated each other.
The destruction of the Matrix and the spread of the Flower of Life's spores across the planet and the coming of the Invid Regis. And how she and her team fled Earth to find the REF.
Admiral Hunter then continued. Explaining the plan to free Earth and the buildup of the REF fleet, and how the various colonies tapped for support. He omitted nothing, explaining the plan in detail including the Neutron S missiles if Earth could not be retaken.
This revelation drew an almost quiet gasp from everybody, including Dana.
