“Captain, they're responding,” Lisa said.
Out in front of the bridge the massive HUD sprang to life in a flash of colors. Claudia looked at the image on the screen, then to her side and back to the screen again. It was Lisa Hayes. But there were differences. She was older, maybe in her thirties. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail. The uniform looked more like a light pressure suit than an actual uniform.
“I want Wildcard, Star Knight and Firebrand squadrons to engage and destroy Khyron’s cruiser.”
It was Lisa’s voice, and everyone turned their attention to their own Lisa. She looked as if she was about fall out of her seat.
SDF-3 Pioneer
Admiral Lisa Hayes Hunter turned her attention to the screen. If any emotion went through her seeing her old shipmates alive again, she didn’t show it.
“Captain, this isn’t a very good time…”
“Who are you?” Gloval asked.
“It should be obvious, I’m your current first officer. Captain, I don’t have time to explain.”
“Humor me “Admiral.””
Lisa could just hear the quotation marks. For a second Lisa racked her mind for something she could use.
“Captain, shortly after we returned to Earth, we both went to Alaska base. On the way down you told me a wild story about my father during the Global Civil War. He and his men were running short of supplies, and Command and the Quartermaster corp. designated them a low priority. So he decided he’d go commando raiding for supplies. His target was not an enemy supply depot. But sector command HQ thought he was so successful in his raid that HQ ordered him to find the raiders.”
SDF-1 Macross
“My god Lisa, it is you! How?” Gloval asked.
“I don’t know. Captain, I don’t have time to explain everything right now but my second-in-command will. Admiral Rick Hunter.”
This was just too much, much too quickly. Gloval grabbed his chair trying to regain some sense of equilibrium.
“Captain.” Gloval looked at the HUD again. “It’s good to see you again. Admiral, Lisa Hayes Hunter out.” There was a stunned silence on the bridge, as Lisa, THEIR Lisa, fell out of her seat.
“This is just too bizarre,” Claudia muttered.
