Firefly had to know. "So how long did it take you come up with this?"
"About three seconds, why?"
"Sounds about right." Personally, Firefly knew they were dead, maybe she should just do a manual log out, unlike some people she had her character saved, but she just -had- to see the look on Crimson's face when the Lich King blasted them into oblivion.
They were hiding just above the door that the Lich King had to come through to follow them, using their weapons as props to hold them up. Crimson's plan was simple, let the Lich get by, then attack it from behind. Firefly wondered how this guy managed to turn on the computer, maybe his mother did it for him.
After a minute of absolute of agony and waiting, the slow moving Lich King moved through the door way, the two prepared to jump down for their surprise attack, when a character in a brown and red robe and hood with a metal peg leg using a metal pipe as a cain, ran past the Lich King, talking as fast as he was running.
"Excusemedearsirmonstercharacter. Butpersonswhosesworndutyisittoendmyexistencearea decreasingdistancebehindmeandImustincrease thedistancebtweenthemandmyself."
The man quickly ran down the tomb's hallway. The confused Lich didn't have much time to consider what happened as a woman in red and gray body armor of the Long Arm class, along with several men in blue and gray version of her armor, all bearing the game company CC Corp's logo, marched out of the door way, steam rolling the Lich King into the ground, who turned gray and vanished.
Crimson and Firefly looked at each other. "Explanation?"
"I THINK those were the Cobalt Knights. There's the game's debug team, they delete hacked player characters and system bugs."
"So that guy who ran past the Lich was a hacked character?"
"I sure don't remember a design like that even being remotely possible with any of the classes. But if you're gonna modify your character, why give yourself a limb?"
"So players will notice ya?"
"Maybe, but most hackers are in it for beefing up their stats, hackers in it for the glory are a lot more dramatic like Helba."
"Who?"
"She's a system cracker who role plays the Queen of Darkness in The World, I don't know if it was just to make things interesting or too much ego, but one of the system Admin role plays Apeiron The King of Light, or that's what I heard, I've never seen either of them, I just heard it through a friend of a friend who was sent a screen capture of them."
"Riiiight."
"So . . . canwegetdownalready?!"
