Zor's Bet - Do You Remember Macross?: Azonia's musings [Episode 130034]

by Chaos Blade

Azonia stood in the middle of her flagship’s command deck, arms folded before her, looking at the holoscreen in front of her. She felt a bit of trepidation as her forces rearranged to face of a new and unexpected threat, Actually that was an exaggeration, by no stretch of exaggeration could she call the new contacts a threat, at least not by itself. They could be, of course, the prelude to one, a forward element of a fleet. But she believed chances of that to be slim; it was rare to see a forward force to jump so into a system or so close to a planet, especially the latter since it would difficult escape considerably. Folding onto the edge of a gravwell was a very different thing than folding from the edge of it.

And then there was the matter of the ships themselves.

Most of them were strange, new designs, but they obviously weren’t part of the planet’s meager defensive forces. On the other hand there was a small number of vessels Zentradi vessels in the force and last but not least there was what had to be the force’s flagship…

And there laid the problem, the ship itself was an unusual design, but at the same time, it was a design she was familiar with. But it couldn’t be Zor’s battlefortress, it had to be another experimental hulls of the same class, probably one of the missing ships... On any case it didn’t had the correct signal beacon, so if one thing was certain it wasn’t one of their ships.

The fact that it was in control of another, unidentified, faction complicated things, since the only likely suspects were supposedly eliminated decades ago,

“It seems that the renegades are not as dead as everyone had supposed,” she muttered to herself

With that though, she began reissuing orders, preparing her fleet in case surprise reared its ugly head. Inwardly, she cursed Miriya’s unilateral decision to break the ceasefire with the micronians. She really would have used her for the upcoming battle, but even if she were to disengage and return now, her estimates were that she’d had little effect in the outcome…

It had been poor timing and poor judgment on Miriya’s part. Not to mention that it seemed something far more in accordance with Khyron than with the resident ace; somehow she knew that the Boturu battalion commander was to blame for the situation, she wasn’t certain in the how, but if she ever found out, she was going to make certain that there’d be no repeat of that situation. But now, it wasn’t the time for that, now was the time for battle, true battle, not the restrained engagements her forces had been using against the battlefortress.

“Forward units, move to engage”

Still she could not completely shake the feeling that she was biting more than she could chew.
