One Ranma: Rubber Ranma [Episode 130371]

by HVulpes

Genma launched himself at the boy as the fruit that he had gotten into fell into his mouth. It was a test of speed. Martial arts versus the incredible machine that was the Saotome eating reflex. Unfortunately, Genma was too far away. He dropped in front of the boy, who swallowed the fruit he had eaten.

Genma looked at the boy in shock. The boy had eaten the dreaded fruit that his master had taught him could never be eaten. Worry about his son's future crossed his mind. Genma jumped up and grabbed Ranma's arm. Trying to pull him closer so that he could yell at Ranma. Only to have the arm stretch as he pulled it away. Genma blanched as he saw that. 'I should have never left him alone.'

Ranma, on the other hand, was excited about this new ability. 'Maybe I've learn a new martial arts skill. At least it better than when I learn that stupid N-n-n-eko ken. I wonder what it is that Pop wants?'

Later that night...

Genma thought about the strange things that he had learn about his son. It seems that the fruit had turned his son into some kind of rubber man. His whole body reacted like rubber. Stretching like a piece of gum. Genma had to come up with a quick idea to explain it to his son so that he didn't connect it with the fruit. So he had come up with the idea of the Gomu School of Martial Arts. He had told Ranma that he had learn the first step of the school, becoming like rubber.

Genma also made sure that Ranma knew that the fruit were off limits. That they were under Genma's direct control and were forbidden to students. Of course, when he tried to teach him with a quick slap on the head, it bounced back. Hitting him. 'Got to remember that.'

Genma was desperate for information. As part of the training mission, he had packed every scroll and book that he had that was martial arts connected. Including some of the scroll that he had 'obtained' from the Master. All of them sealed. His feels for his son, the deep worry and fear that hit him, caused him to break his Master's words. He broke the seal on the scrolls.

It was the third scroll that he opened that explained the nature of the fruits. 'I have to thank the Kami that I had this, instead of Tendo. I don't know what Soun would do if he heard about this.' It told about this Gomu Gomu fruit. The weakness to edge weapons and the inability to swim. But the strength of a rubber body with a protection against blunt weapons. And the hint that with training, the subject could get stronger.

It also hinted at the location of the Temple that Happosai had stolen it from, in the mountains of China. 'I was planning on going to China anyways. Looks like I'm going to have to move up the trip. But how am I going to get the boy across the ocean if he can't swim?'
