"What is going, Admiral Hayes!" one of the top secret leaders of the UEG shouted. They were in a bunker hidden deep within the Alaskan wilderness.
"The unknown fleet dropped into close Earth orbit. They immediately instigated RDF coded communication with the SDF-1. From what we have learned is that the ship is led by the SDF-3." The older man looked over the ten real leaders of the world.
"The SDF-3? We haven't even finished the SDF-2!" shouted one man. "Moon Base Alpha is looking at two more years at current construction rates."
"Who are these people?" yelled a prominent senator from the United States.
"They are being led by an Admiral Lisa Hayes-Hunter," Admiral Hayes said quietly.
"Poppycock! Commander Lisa Hayes is so far down the chain of command, she's not likely to be ever given command of a fleet! We don't even have a fleet." All of them were watching Admiral Hayes closely. Was he a traitor to their plans?
"That was my first thought. When I asked, I was told, 'She was the highest ranking officer to survive'." Admiral Hayes stood up and stood in the center of the U shaped table. "Survive what? I'm sure you are thinking the same thing I was."
"You asked them?" another admiral asked.
"I did. The SDF-1 was the only surviving ship of Earth after the 'Rain of Death'. Moon Base Alpha was the only surviving installation."
"Are you trying to tell me that even here, deep inside the Grand Cannon, that there were no survivors?" one of the senators shouted out as he stood up. "This place is designed to survive anything that anyone can throw at us!"
"Only what we could conceive, Senator Harris. We are having to revise our estimates of the enemy fleet by large factors. According to these people from uptime, the Grand Cannon installation was destroyed incidentally while the alien fleets laid waste to our planet and ninety-two percent of all life."
"Are you saying the aliens in the future destroyed the Earth?" one of the men yelled in almost panic.
"If nothing changes, the Aliens will wipe out our civilization in just one year from now." Admiral Hayes turned and looked at them all. "Admiral Hayes-Hunter says she has a plan to stop this from happening."
"What do you think we should do, Admiral Hayes?"
"I think we should listen very carefully."

"How are those transmissions we are 'leaking' working, Commander Farns?" Lisa Hayes-Hunter asked.
"We seem to have gotten the UEG's undivided attention. That old footage of the 'Rain of Death' worked, I think."
"Let's hope so. We need to get Operation Tail Chase under way as soon as possible."
