"Ready for docking maneuver. I wonder if they really will repair us as they claim?" Azonia muttered. "Where is Khyron hiding now?"
"With one of the Quadrano Squadrons. None of them are very happy with mixing the squadrons like that either."
"They wanted Khyron dead, so I want him hidden and alive. Let them think he was destroyed." The leader of the defeated Zentraedi stood up. "On view!"
Outside the ship the squadron of Alpha fighters kept station as REF transport entered the much larger Zentraedi ship. One Alpha fighter was much more garishly painted; it was a deep red color.
"Scarlet One to Zentraedi command. Requesting permission to board," the micronian said over the radio.
"Granted," Azonia said in reply. "The Micronian leader is here. Odd. Something about her voice."
In just a few short minutes, the short mecha (by Zentraedi standards, any ways) tromped into the room. Looking around, with it's odd shaped head only reaching Miriya's torso, it seemed to be taking in the standard control room. "Strange. It is still like coming home," the micronian muttered.
Suddenly the mecha turned around while folding into its hybrid human-bird form. The canopy opened to display the tiny micronian, who stood up.
"Lieutenant Colonial Miriya Sterling, reporting for duty," she said as she removed her helmet.
Miryia and Azonia just stared in astonishment. This was not just impossible, but ludicrous.
Azonia finally found her voice. "You... are a micronian?"
"Of course not, I was just micronized to infiltrate Zor's ship." Miriya Sterling called out loudly, as the micronized always had to do with the Zentraedi. "A bit misguided, as I was trying to kill someone that was a better warrior than I am."
Miriya snorted in derision. "There is no one better than I!" A pang of worry suddenly pierced her. Khyron could not be correct, could he?"
"That makes me feel so old!" the micronized Zentraedi said with a laugh. "I used to think that way too. Luckily, he was smitten with my looks and did not wish to kill me."
"What type of warrior does not wish to kill a defeated enemy?" Azonia asked curiously. She really did wish to know more about the new micronians that had defeated her so easily.
"The strongest kind, my old friend. Admiral Hayes-Hunter wishes to defold for Alpha Centauri as soon as possible," Miriya Sterling said, changing the subject. "With the Protoculture we are unloading, your ships will be able to be set for a long 'chase'."
"This still does not make sense. Why does this Admiral Hayes-Hunter wish us to chase her? Why does she not just destroy us?" Azonia shouted in frustration.
"She would rather free the Zentraedi from the bonds of the Robotech Masters and Dolza, so that they may make their own choices," the REF officer said. "Could you give me a lift up, Miriya?"
The giant Zentraedi gingerly picked her future self up. "You seem... happy," she said uncertainly.
"I am very happy. I have a loving husband and daughter. I am saddened that I missed out on child hood, but I don't think I am the best mother," Miriya said softly.
"Husband? Daughter?" Azonia asked as the micronized Zentraedi was held up for her inspection.
"These are micronian terms. Micronians do not use machines to create their people. They use a more natural means that a man and a woman pair may employ to create life. This life, termed a child, is a melding of the two parents. A child is a wonderful, frightening thing with infinite potential."
"This sounds strange..." the Commander of the Zentraedi forces said as she sat down in her seat.
"This is what the Robotech Masters fear, losing control of us. If they do not control our creation, then we can become something that rivals them! This is what the micronians have taught the Zentraedi."
"Tell me more of this!" Azonia demanded.
