He never got the chance, as the demonic hand of the Smilodon grabbed him by the throat.
The group could only stare in shock as the Dark God Set was lifted by his throat, his own hands trying to stave off choking to death.
“How nice,” came the demonic voice that had once been Ranma, “that Kami-sama sent me another meddling God to rip to shreds. I wonder if I can make you scream louder than Saffron.”
Bastet gulped, praying that Father was watching them. True, the spell had turned Ranma into a creature of darkness, a corrupt mockery of what he had been.
Ranma had been a boy who could listen; who did not seek out too many challenges, and knew the necessity of being under someone’s control, due to martial arts. After all, there is a reason a sensei teaches.
But this Ranma, he was not one to be under anyone’s thumb. The rules he had lived by until that point meant nothing anymore. Much like the botched spell had turned Jonathan Diggers into a Lich, so too had the spell turned Ranma’s code of conduct and honor into a desire for power and control at any cost.
It was probably the last act that the original Ranma could make, as Set had been about to point at Brittany, if Bastet knew her nemesis.
“Let me go, mortal!” gasped Set.
The demonic visage of Ranma continued to smirk. “Ah, you said that like you expect me to listen. Isn’t that cute.”
Set paled slightly, wondering what was going on. “You are mine to command, mortal!”
Ranma began to laugh, a chilling laugh that filled many with fear, and caused Brittany to try and block herself from hearing it. “No one commands me, fool! For someone who seemed to dally about details, you sure didn’t look hard. I’m not someone who would ever work for some piece of shit like you.
“Now, if you beg nicely, maybe I’ll let you continue to exist.”
“If you kill me, someone else will die,” spat Set, hoping the Doublet System would save his ass.
“Oh,” smiled Ranma, “incentives.”
