Dark Destinies: Balance forgotten, a Curse gained. The Trial ahead. (DARK) [Episode 89336]

by Matdeception

The glass fell from her hand. Rivulets of red rained down, staining the pristine white purity of the land beneath her. Feral eyes opened, shock, panic, despair gripping at her chest all at once. "No!" she whispered, horrified.

Jonathan Diggers, aka The Lich King smirked, his dark magic engulfing it's victim just as he was forcibly ejected from the Realm of the living. He may have lost the chance to end his son's miserable life, but the life he did take was by far enough to quell his disappointment. Mouth opening, he laughed, a cold insidious laugh that chilled all who heard its deadly call.

He may have lost the battle, but the war was just starting.

Energy of Darkest pitch surrounded the Smilodon's body, almost invisible against the ebony pitch of the creatures fur coat. The darkness violated everything, snaking its way through the boys body like a disease, a terribly disease destroying everything that might have once been good and pure in the boy.

Long after the portal carrying Jonathan to his fate had closed, the dark energy storm that had erupted around the boy continued to rage. Mostly red at first, it was only moments after the energy actually came in touch with the boy that it turned to the invading darkness.

Theodore watched, horrified as the waves of concentrated evil surrounded his friend. He could feel, see through his magically charged eyes as the darkness invaded not only the body of the boy, but his very aura, the very link to the young boys soul. Julia stood to his side, and just in front as if she was protecting him from the boy, Gina huddled protectively behind them boy, crouch fearfully staring between her father's legs as the horrifying sight took place before them.

"Daddy?" he barely heard the insistent whimper over the roar of the energy even now still attacking the boy. Eyes flashing to the door, the Archmage winced in fear and horror at the sight of Brittany, her expressive green eyes watching in morbid helpless fascination as whatever was happening continued to do so. She took a tentative step forward, reaching out with that little itty bitty hand of hers, "Daddy?" she whimpered again.

Julia edged around the Dark Energy storm surrounding the boy, making quickly towards the girl less she do something really, really stupid. Sending a silent prayer to whatever god's were listening for the boy's safety, before forcibly grabbing the girls hand and ripping it away just before she could come into contact with the darkness.

A red ring snapped into existence around the Smilodon, an ominous sign if he had ever seen one, Theo groaned inwardly.

---

"No!" Bastet screamed, quickly gathering a hand full of Ever Sand. Mumbling an incantation so old not even the Egyptians of yesteryear could discern it, she blew the shimmering particles across her TV screen, which seemed to get sucked in.

Leaping over the back of her couch, the Egyptian Goddess leapt through a suddenly present portal of fluctuating green and red.

---

"What the.." Theo's gaze snapped to the right, absently hugging his little girl closer to herself as he felt a huge energy build up to the side of Ranma, a shimmering white ring quickly snapping into existence. Eerily, directly opposite the ring of White, one of perpetual Darkness formed on the other side of the boy. The ring of Light just felt good, warm, comforting. The one of Darkness left him growling in disgust, it being like a dark puss filled scab oozing it's ichors to his senses.

"Ranma!" a cat like woman screamed, erupting from the portal.

"Bastet." a Nubian man dressed in resplendent robes of black emerged from the portal of Darkness, smirking as his cruel eyes bore into the beautiful woman.

Julia pressed up against the wall, holding tightly onto the struggling Brittany. If the man felt like a scab to Theo's senses, he was a full blown diseased wound bursting with vileness to her senses. Never before had she ever felt such concentrated evil, such focused darkness in anyone. "Shh! Quiet Brittany!" she hissed, harsher then she really wanted too, but the last thing she wanted right then and there was this creep noticing her and the child.

The woman known as Bastet glared at the man, "You! What do you think you're doing!? This one belongs to me!"

The Nubian man snorted in disdain, "I tire of your arrogance, cat." he glared at the surroundings, as if it were the most despicable surroundings he ever had to endure. "I tire of these people, of that little bitch most of all." he snarled at the girl crying fearfully within Julia's embrace. "Most of all, I'm tired of your domineering control of this time line."

"Father has.." the woman began angrily, only to get cut off with the nastiest glare the Nubian man had shot at her yet. The boy between them stilled as if time for him had frozen, his features frozen in an endless scream as Jonathan's attack continued to work.

"Father didn't think you'd take a Chosen One from his time line and stuffed him in here, all for your pitiful attempts to save the Brat from her fate." the unnamed Godling scowled, "Do you think Father would have sanctioned this boy's removal from that time line? His fate left unfulfilled?"

"He's still my Avatar! You can't take him!" Bast snarled, defiantly.

"Take him?" the man smirked, "My dear, you gave him to me." he stepped around the room, staring intensely at the Mortal's frozen into inaction. They might have done something, said something to the Godlings, but all mortals were quelled with fear in His presence, it was just one of his abilities. "All you had to do was let her take the hit." his gaze turned to Theo, "Or him." he smirked, "But you're 'most possible' three choices and pathetic desire to cause no true amount of suffering worked against you." he leaned close to Bast, his ebony eye's meeting her own lighter ones. "So obsessed with keeping everyone happy, you blinded yourself to the truth."

Bast blinked, "No! That's not possible! I looked over every contingency!"

"Then why have you failed?" the man continued his insufferable smirk, pointing to the frozen boy surrounded by Darkness. "Even you can see it. The Code that holds him to you is nearly gone, replaced by something far more... like me."

The Goddess gasped, horrified, "What.. what are you doing to him?!"

"A Chosen One rarely falls to Darkness, hmmm." he grinned, "But what normally happens when one does, hmm Bast?"

"The end of all.." she whispered, horror beyond understanding reaching everywhere. "No! You can't do that! Balance must be maintained!"

"Oh?" he questioned, "Did you think of Balance when you brought him here? The forces of Darkness received no such balance for that, hmmm? No, you don't care about balance. A selfish Godling with no real understanding of His rules." he chuckled, "He is mine, by order of Father."

Bastet gritted her teeth. Even this bastard wouldn't lie about something like that. No one lied when Father's will was in question. A sudden thought sprung to mind, "Then I call forth the Trial of Redemption!"

"Redemption." the man chuckled, slightly amused. "It is you're right." he gazed at the gathered people, frowning curiously. "As it is my right to choose the Vessel." he gave Gina a long, long look. "Her perhaps?"

Bast's hands clenched angrily. The Trial of Redemption was the only thing she could think of to give the boy a chance of returning to normal, but as she was the one who called it he was the one who got to choose who would receive the curse of Fate's Redemption. "Is that your choice?" she snarled.

The man chuckled, "Oh, you'd like that wouldn't you." smirking viciously, he turned towards Julia and Brittany. "No, I won't let you get off that easily. A poetic irony would be her, the one you sought to save from the curse." he stared pointedly at Julia, before his eyes glittered over to the shivering child in her grip. "Or her? Oh, that would be such a delicious irony."

"Set.." the Goddess glared at the man hatefully.

"I've made my choice." the Nubian man finally identified as Set grinned, "I choose her." he pointed his finger at...
