Eberron: -Bronze: Unit of Units [Episode 132196]

by Kestral

The disappearance of Ranma Saotome from Nerima had some immediate effects, it was as if removing him had removed all the craziness from their lives and Ranma was now a fading memory.

Genma had gone to find Ranma and bring him back within an hour of Ranma's disappearance. How he was to do this was a question he himself hadn't considered.

Soun had gotten angry, then despairing, then decided to engage all three of his daughters! Seize the moment!

Neither Nabiki nor Kasumi had anyone showing them interest, so Soun had immediately arranged omiai for the both of them. He'd have them married by summer! Neither Kasumi nor Nabiki seemed to be happy about this.

Akane on the other hand had someone who'd come by to declare his interest in her the moment he'd heard that she'd used "the foul sorcerer's own magic against him in order to free herself at last of the unfair yoke upon her, and allow herself at last to pursue her own heart as his bride" - the wedding of Tatewaki Kuno and Akane Tendo was planned for two months hence. It would be quite the affair, with the Kuno family footing the bill.

If anyone was unhappier about this than Nabiki and Kasumi, it would be Akane.

Not that Shampoo, Kodachi, Ukyo, or Hikaru Gosunkugi were happy with everything involved in this situation. There was something about one aspect or another that didn't set well with at least someone.

They had been a company prior to the end of the Last War and the signing of the Thronehold Treaty. They hadn't been quite sure what to do thereafter.

Tao had found a commanding officer, or sensei as it were. Naturally this was of interest to the rest of the unit.

What Ranma found was a ready made group of adventurers. Most of whom were warforged and, as near as he could figure, rank beginners in terms of skill levels.

Tao was a martial arts specialist, a "monk" in local parlance. Though sexless as all warforged technically were, and looking identical to the others unless you really made a point of looking for and memorizing almost unnoticeable differences, the voice and personality tended towards a "male" persona. Tao was a philosophy of enlightenment through action, and that was a philosophy Ranma himself could get behind. Within the 304th Special Corps, he had been a skirmisher/scout.

Zen was identical to Tao in some respects except that he was what they called an "artificier" - some kind of wizard that used potions and "infusions" to perform magic. Within the 304th Special Corps, "he" had been the repairman that kept the warforged running.

Karma was bigger than Tao or Zen. Really strong fellow with a reinforced body. Not a fast mover but tireless and when Karma caught up with you "he" could hit pretty darn hard. Ranma didn't understand a lot of terms thrown about but understood enough - this was their heavy fighter. The one who waded into the combat while the others backed him up or kept his back protected.

Arrow was the odd one amongst the warforged. "She" had a female personality and was an archery specialist. Built to be thinner, faster, and more agile than the others apparently - though otherwise darn close to identical. Within the group's life as a military unit, she had been their ranged combat support.

They had lost prior to the Treaty two of their original members. Crunch had apparently been another frontline fighter-type, except he'd been ripped literally apart by some kind of undead soldier used by another side in the fight. The other loss had been a warforged scout named Zero who had been hit by a fireball sent by an enemy airship during that last fight.

There was one other member of their unit, but SHE was not a warforged either.

Ranma was a bit puzzled when he discovered that the person he was introduced to was apparently not particularly well liked or trusted. He couldn't see anything necessarily being wrong with being a:
