Magical explosions, especially those caused by destabilized experimental spells, are not a pretty sight.
One wall was suddenly coated in frost, while the books piled against the adjacent wall burst into flame.
Purple light shot upward to warp the ceiling like a rippling pond.
A bookshelf simply ceased to exist, leaving the books that were on the shelves to fall to the floor. Several of the heavier grimores scampered into adjoining rooms.
The office chair turned into an Elvis impersonator, and left the building.
Maudlin himself was essentially unscathed, his only injuries being from blown into a bookcase, and having an index volume land on his head. Oh, and the headache he could feel coming on.
Shaking his head to clear it, he surveyed the damage, and panicked at the sight of the fire.
"Fire suppressant. Fire suppresant. It was... um... Oh, I knew I should have bought an extinguisher!"
It was then that a voice shouted "Shabon... Spray!"
The mage turned to the source of the voice to see a cloud of fog roll toward him. The light from the fire dimmed, then the flames died completely. He breathed a sigh of relief, and summoned a wind to clear the fog.
Only to see several girls in abbreviated sailor fuku-like outfits glaring at him. The Sailor Senshi... but something seemed wrong with their current membership.
Then *what* was wrong hit him, and all he could think was 'Oh, shit.'
"For Love and Justice, we are the Sailor Senshi... and you'd better change her back right now!"
