"Naraku will not be pleased." she mused "He expected me to slay the priestess and I failed. Nevermind that she displayed powers unheard of for a priestess, first a Barrier and then a wave of energy that rival's Inuyasha's Wind Scar. I failed and Naraku despises failure. But how did the girl do it!? Naraku's plan was perfect! Up until now she's been helpless when bereft of arrows. Inuyasha was too far away to help her, as were the demon slayer and the monk. The fox cub was well clear of the battle so he couldn't possibly have done anything, even if his powers weren't limited to illusions... Illusions.... Could it have been an illusion? An image of the girl where she wasn't to draw my attack away from her true location? No, I felt my blades shatter against her Barrier. That attack was very real, in the same class as the Wind Scar but different. No way was that a Wind Scar cloaked in illusion."
Kagura then flew in silence, alone with her thoughts of what she could have done differently, how Kagome could have done the impossible as she did, and whether Naraku would simply give her pain by squeezing her heart or come up with a more inventive punishment, all accompanied by the buzzing of the insects escorting her back to the castle. Finally, and at the same time, far too soon, Kagura came in sight of a forboding edifice shrouded in poisonous miasma. This was, of course, Naraku's castle, home to the evil shapeshifting half-demon and all his minions, of which Kagura was one. Kagura found that she hated the sight of the castle more and more each time she returned to it. Today was no exception, especially since she expected to be punished as soon as she entered the presence of her hated master, who had most assuredly been watching the debacle through Kanna's mirror.
"No point in putting it off." Kagura muttered to herself as she passed through the Barrier and landed just outside the castle entrance "If I enter his presence in shredded clothes, he will be annoyed, but if I delay to change, he will definitely grow angry, if he isn't already."
The feather Kagura had rode on shrank to normal size and then was carried into her hand by a directed breeze. Fan in hand, the wind sorceress strode through the door into the castle proper, dreading her audience with her lord and master, he who literally held her heart in his hand. *Perhaps he will be merciful,* Kagura thought as she methodically put one foot in front of the other as she walked the familiar, and currently dreaded, path to Naraku's chambers, deep within the castle.
*Oh, who am I kidding?* Kagura frowned in thought *If Naraku is merciful, today will be a good day to visit Hell, because they'll be having a cold snap there.*
