At the moment it was detecting all the EM activity around it that was not dependent on cables and lines, and it was figuring things out from there.
It wouldn't be long before it figured out how to change itself to a form that could ride those carriers as well.
Catgirl Ritsuko checked her patients, finding that they were all slumbering soundly in a drugged state. Obviously the drugs were actually accelerating the changes.
She herself was catlike, perhaps it had been shaped by her love of things feline. Her mind had changed somewhat, as she poured herself some warm milk and began lapping it up with great gusto. Trying to smoke a cigarette had left her coughing and hacking, red-eyed and teary, and with the foulest of tastes in her mouth. So her cigarette habit had been kicked, but she seemed to have a new addiction.
At which point a catnip mouse was thrown into the room by some curious individual to see what would happen.
Ritsuko scoffed as soon as she saw it. Just because she had turned into some anime catgirl didn't mean she was going to do anything undignified.
She picked the thing up between two fingers, examining it. A thick canvas weave surrounding a little jingle ball and a bag of catnip, shaped to resemble a mousie. Nothing that would interest her of course. She was still Ritsuko Akagi, no matter the ears and tail and bigger bouncier bustline and sensistive nose that was picking up the catnip.
Boy that smelled good. Ritsuko held the mousie closer to sniff again at it. Smelled really good and sent all sorts of pleasant tingles off. She sniffed at it again, purely in the interest of scientific knowledge.
It took over five minutes before she was carrying it around in her mouth, looking inordinately happy about something.
Misato Katsuragi felt herself slowly awaken, feeling as if she had been the center attraction at a taffy pulling contest. She needed food, particularly protein. She was hungry and empty and wanted to find something - she just wasn't sure what that something was.
It was obvious that she was in some medical ward, and that she was wearing one of those hospital shifts, but it wasn't obvious until she had splashed water in her face at the sink and looked up into the mirror that she was:
