A Rose at Hogwarts: Slytherin Surprise [Episode 134343]

by Silussa

As Kodachi continued, it became clear to Hagrid that she actually believed that she was Harry Potter's sister.

But he'd only found one child in Lily and James' house that night, their son Harry. So there couldn't be a daughter, could there?

Hagrid was a gentle giant with a loving heart and a desire to believe the best in everyone. So, faced with a contradiction between what he was sure of, what someone else so earnestly believed to be fact, and a letter from Professor Dumbledore himself, there was only one thing he could do.

Get a third opinion.

“Right, then. You stay with me after we cross, and we'll get to the bottom of this.”

The awesome boat ride to the castle itself was missed by Kodachi, who had drawn in on herself. While she wasn't quite sure what was going on with the gentle giant, she could feel in her gut the impending loss of the first actual kindness she had known.

One particularly dark corner of her mind brooked a suggestion as to how to get out of this situation. A suggestion which would involve burying a corpse.

That grim suggestion was very briefly considered before being buried with a shudder.

As for Harry, not quite sure what had happened or why his sister had been separated out from the rest of the group, stayed as close as he could and listened, without success, for any clues. Several times he started to ask Kodachi what was wrong, but she looked so thoroughly miserable that he was very hesitant to disturb her. Instead, he resolved to stay close and help when he could, or at least provide a shoulder when she finally felt like talking.

The boat trip completed, Hagrid then turned over the remainder of his charges to the Deputy Headmaster. Before he could explain the situation, however, he spotted a professor that he was certain could sort this out; someone that had known Lily almost her entire life; a knowledgeable wizard.

He ambled over to Professor Snape, Kodachi slightly behind and to one side, and Harry close behind.

Professor McGonagall observed the detour of the two new students, but decided not to act on it for now; all appeared to be well in hand.

“Professor Snape, a word with you, if I may?”

While Hogwarts' Potion Master was not overly involved in the receiving of new students until the Sorting Ceremony, he still had his own concerns. So, the last thing he really wanted to do was deal with Hagrid and what he presumed was a troublesome student. Still there seemed something oddly familiar about this one.

He gently lifted Kodachi's head so that he could look clearly into her eyes. “What is it, you....” Whatever insult Professor Severus Snape was going to utter faded off as his face assumed the somewhat odd look of surprise. “Persica?” was what faintly came forth instead.
