Had anyone been near.
"He's finally returned," a muffled, yet surprisingly soft, feminine and melodious voice stated in the cavernous space, "as I knew he would. Your plan, oh wicked man, will fail now." The voice laughed. In contrast to the voice the speaker used, her mirth was deep, booming and harsh, causing ripples in the liquid that covered the majority of the floor of the vast region.
"Much as I am held here in body," she resumed her rant, "my mind and my powers are still free to me. And you, by using a part of myself to make your keystone, had given me the very method to bring about your downfall."
She let loose with another of her cavern-shaking laughs.
"How ironic that I was able to do what I did..."
THREE DAYS AGO:
Shinji was listening to his DAT in the dark and quiet room, when a female voice interrupted his classical music. It sounded, to his ears, much like Rei's voice, except it was older and more emotive.
"Ikari Shinji."
The young man blinked rapidly, wondering how his music had been altered.
"Your device and it's contents are unchanged. I am merely, in your terms, 'hijacking the signal' between your ears and your mind so as to be able to speak with you."
Shinji sighed. Perhaps it was just his imagination.
"I am real, rest assured. In fact, I have a proposition for you. One you might find quite attractive."
He snorted. The only way he would find a deal attractive would be if her were able to escape his 'father'. Either that, or destroy his plans.
"It is humorous that you place that stipulation upon it. In point of fact, what I propose would require your departure, then return at a later point in your experience to derail your father's plans."
He choked back a laugh. What he wouldn't give to be able to do that.
"Would you be willing to become the Voice of a God?"
Would he! Heck, he'd sign up right now!
"Then so be it. There is a Draconic deity that is requesting an Avatar and I think that you will fill the bill nicely..."
In a burst of light that started off blue and rapidly lightened to silvery-white, the young male pilot of Eva 1 vanished.
"... And even more ironic, he returns to you now, oh vile scoundrel, with a true armada behind his own might."
Finally, a single light ignites, it's blue radiance shining upon a red mask inscribed with seven eyes.
"For will even the legions of the human Heavens be able to withstand the gaze of the Platinum Avatar?"
