Yet, he did have one thing that he was excellent at doing. If one needed a person to sneak around, one only had to turn to him. With his utterly forgettable form, and ability to melt into the background, he could get anywhere around, and would have been the sort of person Nabiki would employ had she needed something along those lines. That was why he was able to 'accidentally bump' into the girl of his dreams, and brush her off when he apolgised for the 'unintended incident'. All of it was planned, and it allowed him to get what he needed.
Fortunately for him, she'd merely gone back to not noticing him as he ran off, giddy with the knowledge that he'd actually succeeded, and managed to touch Akane Tendo without getting bashed.
Once he managed to get out the daze of happiness that he'd been lost in, he had set about to work. He had the spell words down pat, and could have repeated them in his sleep. Each and every one of the ingrediants had been collected. Of course, he'd accidentally managed to put in too much rhino horn, but it seemed okay. As far as he could tell, the incantation would work, and he'd have no fears as to the fact that she would be running to be his girlfriend.
He just hadn't realised that he'd misinterperted the title, 'To Know One's Heart'. What he thought it was had a lot to do with his own desires. It sounded to him like it would let him into her heart so that he could know her love for him. And he was wrong about that. Instead, it was a sort of... emotional clearing spell, so that all the true emotions one would be having would be in sharp focus.
Not that he knew about that. As far as he knew, Akane would soon be looking into her heart and finding him there. He was sure that this time he'd succeeded, and he was ready to take advantage of having his magic actually work for once.
So, he prepared his best uniform for the next day, sure that Akane would be at the very least looking for him, never realising that if she were doing so, it would be because she had possibly found out that he'd been trying his magic tricks on her.
As she faced off against her employer, Akane found herself feeling rather happy. Here was a guy who wasn't treating a sparring session as an opportunity to go through routines garnered off of a samurai movie. After all, there was a kendoist in her life who considered the idea of creating an almost fight was the height of honor. And the boys around her at school tended not to always be the best examples of their gender.
However, the company heir was truly going to spar with her, and wasn't treating her like some menial worker. Instead, he was actively trying to include her in things, and actually wanted a real sparring session. He was certainly the sort of guy who she could appreciate, though his training regimen pointed out the deficiencies that had gotten her disappointed with her father's instruction style.
Though she did have to blush over the fact that she'd be up close to him in the sparring session, and worry that she might hurt him, she felt resolute and good about what she would be doing.
"You okay?" Ranma asked.
Akane gave a smile that was a bit too big and nodded. "Sorry. Just thinking about some things."
"Sure about that. We can do this later if you're too out of sorts..."
"Don't worry about it. I'll be fine."
"Okay then. Let me see what you got."
"Sure thing," she said with a smirk, while:
