Fused Fantasy: World of the Magical Gem [Episode 135244]

by Red Priest of the 17th Order

The World of Juél is the magical realm, named for the ancient treasures and artifacts made from the crystals of the land. A world where a single continent surrounded by many islands, and each piece of land offers it’s own uniqueness and magical prowess to the world. A world where precious metals and especially jewels are the main currency, and there is much in the way to find for one to make a fortune, if they only look hard enough.

The Northeast was home to the Tohpahs Island, after the abundance of golden stones it offers. This is a mountainous region said to be home to those with the gift of magic or possibly of flight. Those who come down from the Tohpahs’s Capital, the Sunkeep to the main continent, are few and far between, and it shows as their influence is hardly felt or seen. Quite often, they are a aloof and look down upon all others, seeing themselves as the representatives of the gods of their island, and feel they should rightfully rule all others.

To the West across from Tohpahs lies a larger island of Deamand. Considered a Holy Sanctuary by the rest of the World of Juél, this fortified island of the Northwest has been considered impregnable to the outside world. With the diamonds reaped from their soil, this Castle-laden landscape has been able to advance it’s military might into the main continent, spreading the holy word of the lord almighty, and crushing any opposition they might face. The soldiers who travel into the main continent of Juél are said to have been trained in the greatest stronghold of Deamand, Sanctuary.

The far-West is home of the largest island. Nearly half the size of the main continent, Rubé would have been considered a twin continent if it weren’t for the fact over three-fourths are barren desert. The deserts filled with nomadic tribes, (whom are rumored to know the greatest sources of magic) that farm for the rare red gems that are scattered about through the sands while the outskirts, the plain and lush jungles and forests which are fed by oasis and the coasts, are filled with magical creatures considered half-man and half-beast. The only city on this island is Bloodgulch, another stronghold founded in a boxed-canyon by the Holy Knights of Deamand, in an effort to spread their influence and reap more for the Sanctuary in the form of Rubé’s beautiful rubies.

The Southern part of the world of Juél is home to the dark continent, Onixx. A dark, territory that seems to be a contradiction of itself, which has reaped it forever in ‘Black Winter’. The very center of the continent is a treacherous place filled with many an active volcanos, constantly spewing ash into the sky, blocking out the sunlight; the people’s only sky-source of illumination there being the volcanoes spewing their molten rock. But because there’s no sunlight, no constant warmth besides the volcanoes, the land is otherwise blanketed in snow, especially the farthest-most reaches where the cities are. Gothic in architecture, black covered in white, this island is said to be cursed by black magics and unholy creatures. Only the promise of fortunes to be made in the very rare Jet Diamonds, stories brought by to the main continent by those who escaped the harsh and frozen hellish conditions, still brings outsiders to this island. And even then, all will have to go through the city of Obsidian, the only town to have a major seaport; connection into or out of the Island. A place that seems to be haunted by dark creatures.

To the far-East is Saffir Island. The coasts are all for fishing and beachcombing for the precious blue-stones, but the inner part of the island is overrun with cities in feudalism that deal with swords, dark arts of assassination, more than a few spells and tricks of magic, and the deep ravine where the Imperial Mines for Sapphires is. The Elven Lords ruled the island from the main palace in the Capital of Samuraideeper. The presence of Saffir is felt strongly within the main continent, as the Elven Lords seem to have interests similar to that of Deamand; expanding their sphere of influence. The magical devices, golems, and war machines being built there will possibly see to it.

All of these islands have an impact on the main continent, Emeraud. A lush, forested land filled with green and dotted with hundreds of cities, mystical sites, ruins and even more emeralds to be found to line the pocket. All corners of the continent influenced by the surrounding island, be it clothing, architecture, or the people who had come from the islands. And in the center of this realm is the most powerful and magical of cities.

“Oz” The Emerald City.

However, there is no more wizard, and there are no more witches. Only an elder woman, a prophet whom is from another world. Going blind in one eye, and sometimes babbling about her old home, she is a Prophet who’s mumbles have nuggets of truth.

And one group of six adventurers have taken her words as gospel, and have been able to benefit from it. A group who most recently had a rather nice haul, and were taking the time to recuperate and spend their hard-won goods.

Currently, the ‘strongman’ of the group, a martial artist or ‘monk’ as they tend to be named, was looking over his/her share of the loot his group made. This monk was...
