"Kinari, report," said Ranma on the way to the baths.
A darkly furred individual nodded at the prince as he passed, then fell along behind him. "We have found all the registered candidates. We're not sure what happened to a stowaway but as she was likely an assassin we've just increased security at the castle. The spider-golem has been analyzed and a counterspell to eliminate it was worked out for the future, should they try the same tactic again. The ambassador from Naquan is still apparently absorbed in some purification ritual she's undergoing, preparing for tomorrow's meeting with you."
Ranma grunted an acknowledgment as he opened the door to the bath and the two entered.
"Construction on the Re'tang proceeds normally and on schedule, while the Skarwraith has been set back as some worm infestation has weakened several of the planks being used for the outer hull. They are holding off on further construction while all the supplies are checked and appropriate investigation is applied on the supplier." Kinari stood well clear of the prince as the human prepared to bathe.
"Hmmmm," said Ranma.
"At the ninth bell, we have a trade delegation from T'kree. Apparently their deserts have fine colored sands which the Glassblowers Guild wishes to acquire for their craft. Their customs make physical contact something to avoid."
"Which race is that?" asked Ranma, cutting in.
"Dromites. They are a halfling sized insectile race, the same as on Kornis?" said Kinari after checking his notes.
"Oh yeah, psionic race, genderless excepting their queen or something," said Ranma, trying to remember.
"That's them. They in turn are trying to acquire a trade agreement for melons, which they enjoy but cannot grow on their homeworld due to typically arid conditions and some lacking nutrients in their soil."
"Gotcha," said Ranma, finishing the rinsing off process. He was negotiating with bug-people for sand and melons? Yeesh. "Have an important interruption occur so I can get out of there after a reasonable time."
"They are psychic, sir," pointed out Kinari.
"Yeah, yeah. Hey - have a report ready for me on these gals competing in this contest thing. That'd make it pretty real for purposes of getting me out of there, and I gotta get a handle on this situation before long," said Ranma, brightening. "Make sure ya got the basics. What martial arts style they practice and stuff," said Ranma as he sat back in the soaking tub to relax.
"It will be so," said Kinari.
