Great Will: Star Trekking On Earth? [Episode 135727]

by Kestral

The Klingons were young, naive, and their ship terribly damaged before they landed on Earth. Oh, they could have done any number of mistakes in dealing with these violent primitives. They could have tried to go commando. They could have not cooperated. They could have been dismissive of the humans as an inferior weak race.

On the other hand, they were injured and cut off from the rest of their race - and these were NOT elite warrior caste. They might have been Klingons and therefore warriors as far as their blood might cry out for such, but they were mainly technicians and laborers and a couple of older but more philosophical teachers.

The older set among them also had the desire to stick something sharp into various visual receptors among the ruling class and to ingratiate themselves into their saviors. Just in case rescue did NOT come.

Besides, looking at the tanks and jets and other military hardware - these people might be primitive but they were hardly weak-minded.

So these elders, particularly an old battle-scarred figure with the often-mangled name of G'narsh, decided to try something.

Therefore they shared more details of their technology, cuisine, fighting prowess, martial arts, and information about their history. Some of which alarmed the heck out of some of the primitives, intrigued others, and provided the basis for what was to come afterwards.

G'narsh declared that they would help the Earth protect itself against the various really awful people out there in the stars - like those doublecrossing Vulcans.

Klingons depicted the near-space as a lawless, strong-prey-on-weak, merciless, place. One where any moment less friendly people might come and conquer Earth, but they had befriended Klingons - who were among the most forthright and honorable warriors out there.

When humankind DID go into space (1969), they went to the nearest Klingon outpost and hailed it. In Klingonese, with the proper forms and tribute (friendly gifts) and mentioning how well the wayward Klingons had managed to integrate. Why, G'narsh himself had risen to the position of Assistant Director Of Earth Force Military, Klingon Division. Which meant he was in control of three Klingons but he got a lot of respect and paid.

The Klingon High Command responded:
