"A thousand-and-one maids all at one time is too much, Kasumi. But..." And the girl hugged herself even closer to Ranma's body, "one is just right. I'll make him feel comfortable and...satisfied." Ranma thought she was about to kiss him!
"Oh, my, Nabiki, that will just not do. Remember, we must all share our master. You will put us all out of work if you don't. And think of how hard it is to find employment in this economy!" And Kasumi put her hand to her cheek as she did just that: "Oh, my!" It wasn't a thought she enjoyed.
The frightened looks and glare of 1001 fellow maids forced Nabiki to let go and step back from Ranma. For now.
Kasumi gave her most sincere and professional bow to Ranma, "Allow me to officially welcome you to the Hanaukyo estate, Master! I am Kasumi, leader of your maid team. If any maid does not immediately fulfill any of your wishes please do come to me."
Ranma saw that this Kasumi was the most conservatively uniformed of all the maids as well as the most seemingly mature. In fact he judged her to be in at least her late twenties as she had a little (blonde-haired) girl bowing just as politely beside her. Idiot about such things as he was he thought she was probably Kasumi's daughter. But among all the impressions his trained senses were trying to process, there was one above all the other he was having trouble with. "...uh, a thousand-and-one of you??"
"A thousand, actually," Nabiki smirked. "Akane refused to welcome you."
"Akane?"
"She's the head of security. You'll meet her ...when you least expect her." There was something about the way Nabiki said that that got Ranma's warning intuition going.
"Okay, Team; let us all escort our new young master into his new home..."
The immense opulence and utter yelling of Rich on top of everything else since he had entered the gate so overwhelmed Ranma that he really didn't start coming out of his daze until he found himself in an obscenely luxurious bathroom. "Kasumi??"
"Isn't it traditional in Japanese culture to welcome someone by offering them a bath?"
"Uh, that's true."
"Then welcome to your bath, Master!!" And Ranma turned to see naked in the Olympic pool-sized bathtub...
