Setsuna's Fault: Madness Detailed (DARK) [Episode 136044]

by Kestral

The Senshi Teleport was not instantaneous - it had required three seconds for them to disappear and then reappear.

Sailor Pluto controlled time. For them it had been three seconds, for anyone outside their circle - three weeks had taken place. Three weeks at the Gates with the new timeline playing out. By the time they had reappeared, the time alteration had been well established. She'd wanted to make sure there was absolutely no way the Inners could undo what she had done.

The various creams, hair products, skin moisturizers, even foods in some places that contained the first part of the curse had been established and widespread. Then the second part of the curse, causing the madness.

Even so, the effect was not total. There were areas where the products simply were not used. There were individuals who had never used any of those products even when the substance was at near total market saturation. So the Week Of Madness, so called by the press who had no idea exactly what had caused it, had spots that it had seemed to skip over.

One of these were the more secular areas of the Middle East. Who wasted no time declaring the whole thing was divine punishment for giving women all the rights they had outside their territory.

There were a few areas spared simply because Sailor Dark Pluto lacked omniscience and had been hurrying, therefore the Eastern coast of Australia had avoided the worst of the Madness simply due to distribution problems. There were areas of Africa where the infected food and creams had not been utilized due to one reason or another.

In addition there were areas where some particularly onerous male had drawn the majority of the hostility of the local females. More of the malefolk had survived in those areas as a result, and now that the Madness had passed - their contribution was being recognized.

Many of the women had had access to knives, blunt trauma weapons, cars, and various other weapons. Some were really efficient and got their hands on guns while the rage had taken them. In at least one case, the woman had staked her beloved husband and son out in the front yard after drugging them and had then used a lawn mower to dispatch them. With the red haze of the rage upon them, unlike as was typical with men for the most part their rage had merely fueled the fire and not simply caused them to descend to the unthinking stage.

So it was not as bad as it could have been. After the week had passed, there were only a few hundred million males dead. Some of the survivors were crippled, many were emotionally scarred and downright gynophobic. Trust was not something easily found.

At the Tendo Dojo in Nerima Japan, for example, a crippled and badly scarred survivor named Soun Tendo had retreated to a cringing ball at the very sight of a woman - especially his three daughters.

The horrifying thing that the Senshi saw as they viewed this altered past was the women themselves. In the case of the aforementioned Tendo family, three daughters remembered what they had done to their father and saw the pitiable wreck he had become as a result. Worse, they remembered how good it had felt.

Sailor Mercury saw her mother trying to deal with the memories of not only hunting down and killing her artist husband, but of assisting in the terminating of most of the little boys who came into the hospital.

The various mass media came up with dozens of explanations, none of them close to the actual truth, each with experts whose book deals would make them wealthy just for giving some sort of excuse that the guilty masses could seize on.

The Senshi looked this over and it was Sailor Venus who summed it up. "This is really screwed up."
