Unfortunately, she immediately realised that there was going to be more to it when she tried to put on one of her bras. With the added sensitivity and her increased... size, she was not about to be able to wear any of the ones she owned. Fortunately, the opposite part of her underwear was not so troublesome, and it wasn't too hard to replace. And a simple pair of camouflage pants and a short sleeved tee seemed to be fine enough... and were hopefully not going to be... rubbing as much as she feared.
But she was a military officer. Not everyone could get a degree as she had, go through the Academy, rise through the ranks, and deal with all the things that came from being young, female and smart in a modern military force. She had proven that she wasn't just a scientist or a politician in a uniform, and she'd done it on a battlefield. Surely a woman who had faced down Goa'uld System Lords, and searched out whole new worlds through an ancient alien device could handle something like this.
Besides, she had to go see Jack. He was her commanding officer after all, and it was only responsible to let him know that she was fit for at least light duty again. Not only that, but he was her friend, and she couldn't let him, or the other members of SG-1 not know that she was okay. If nothing else, she really wanted to seek him out. It just seemed to be the proper thing to do.
So, ignoring the way that she felt pleased by her decision, she pulled her shirt so that it was presentable as best she could, and headed out.
"There is one thing that I do not understand," Teal'c commented with a slight confusion showing, "If all of these enhancements have been occurring, then why would there be this need to find a 'special one'?"
Daniel looked up from the book that he'd been examining and gave a helpless little shrug. "I'm no expert, but I'd have to say that it'd probably be from the animal parts."
"How so?"
"Well... Do Jaffa have pets?"
"It has been known to happen on occasion."
"Okay, so we have a basis for this," the archeologist replied. "Now, we have them all over this planet. People keep fish, dogs, birds, cats... whatever. Sometimes they just are companions, sometimes they're friendly, but sometimes, when you get the right animal and person together, they really connect. Then they tend to be rather affectionate to the person in question."
"How so?"
"Umm... Dogs might lick, nuzzle and want to play with that person. Birds... I've never had one, so I don't know. But cats can nuzzle too, but they also like to cuddle, lick and stay with their person. And they've been known to be so connected with people that they've brought home things to share, like mice and birds they've killed. Plus they tend to be independently minded, and if they want attention, they'll make sure they get it. If you apply that logic to the 'catgirls'..."
"Ah, I believe that I understand," the former First Prime murmured.
"Good... Because that connection's something that I've assumed over. For all we know, it could be some sort of design to make them want to multiply, or simply a flaw. But somehow, I doubt it."
"Indeed."
One of the things that Jack O'Neill found odd about the whole situation didn't directly involve the virus. Strangely enough, he found himself noticing that he continually kept on expecting to see female personnel, either officers or enlisted, and was actually surprised that none of the fairer sex were around. He knew that they were never that many in number, and that none of them were free from that virus, but that didn't stop habit. After all, he was used to seeing them, and when he noticed that he was only seeing guys, it was rather jarring.
Still, there was the business of running the base to get on with. A place like Stargate Command didn't stand idle even if there were going to be no off-world missions until they were sure the virus wasn't some sort of weapon, or plague. They had to work to handle the sickness, and there was even paperwork when one was idle. Reports, from basic status to inane seeming ones, had to be filed, and he had to make sure to attend to his duties, knowing that the doctors could only do their best, no matter how long he stayed there.
"JACK!" What he wasn't ready for was to have a blonde haired catgirl leaping to slam into his chest so that they both fell to the floor. One moment, he was walking along the corridor, and the next he was literally being knocked off his feet.
*WHAM!*
With the literal pain in his back throbbing from his landing, it took him a moment to identify just who it was that he'd been pounced upon. "Why did you do that?"
"Some sort of instinct, sir," Carter told him matter of factly.
"Swell..."
"I just wanted to let you know that I'm healthy."
"I can tell. And I can see. Boy, can I see..."
"Sir?"
"It's nothing Carter," O'Neill sighed, and looked up from the bright blue eyes to see the other men in the corridor watching him lay there with a blonde and shapely catgirl nearly cuddling up to him. Resisting the urge to groan, he wondered when things would settle down, while:
