Inside NERV, Shinji was getting inside EVA-01 and receiving his instructions.
Ritsuko said, "As soon as you launch, just try walking."
The EVA was put into the tube and launched to the surface.
Out on the streets of Tokyo-3, Nagisa was running wildly as her thoughts went in random directions, as tears streamed down her face.
"My parents dead from a train wreck. An Angel attacking. I'm lost. I'm going to die!"
Nagisa felt a slight surge go through her body, as she got an intense feeling to jump back. She did, and avoided being stepped on by the 3rd Angel. Nagisa stumbled and fell to the ground, looking up in terror at Sachiel. Fear, horror, despair, and an intense desire to live were the emotions that Nagisa felt. A blue star, sending out bolts of lightning, appeared in the sky.
Back at NERV, Maya stared at the screen in disbelief. She turned and saw that Misato and Ritsuko were watching the screen showing Shinji.
"Commander," Maya began. "Another pattern has just appeared. It is a yellow pattern. There is also appears to be some sort of strange energy source near the Angel."
Misato's head snapped around and ordered, "Put the 3rd Angel on the viewscreen."
Maya did so. Everyone winced, as they saw a girl lying in the path of the Angel. Just behind the girl and much higher up was the lightning star. The Angel took a few steps back, as it looked up at the star.
Ritsuko quickly went to the computers and started getting sensor readings on the star and the Angel.
Ritsuko went over the sensor readings aloud. "The star is emanating a lot of electrical energy. Yellow pattern is still unidentified. The Angel appears to have hesitated."
Nagisa felt another surge and heard a woman's voice.
Call upon it, Nagisa.
Nagisa scooted away from the Angel and looked around.
"Call what?" she said. "Who's there?"
The Iczer Robo, Nagisa. It will come if you call. It will protect you.
Nagisa realized that she didn't hear the voice. It was inside her mind. As the Angel took a step forward, she put her faith in the strange voice.
"ICZER ROBO!"
A translucent sphere of energy appeared around Nagisa, as her body flashed blue for a second. The blue star released a column of light that smashed into the ground with incredible force, shaking buildings up to a kilometer away.
Everyone at NERV HQ was stunned by the events they were seeing.
Ritsuko stared at the scene in disbelief. "That girl is the Pattern Yellow? What's going on here?"
Maya said, "The 3rd Angel is backing up a bit more."
Gendo frowned, as he thought, "This was not in the Dead Sea Scrolls."
All anyone could do was watch the column of light.
Nagisa felt the rumbles, but instead of being frightened, she felt relief. Another surge of energy went through her, and she felt herself being lifted into the air by some force.
"What's going on?" Nagisa said, as she thrashed in the unseen grip
You called upon the Iczer Robo. It is now calling to its pilot. Soon, you will be inside Iczer Robo to pilot it.
Both outside and inside NERV, everyone could hear the steps of Iczer Robo stepping out of subspace. Nagisa turned into a beam of light and was transported into the cockpit of the giant mecha.
Maya shouted, "Unknown mecha has just appeared. It is at least five times the size of the 3rd Angel."
Misato stared at the new player and whispered, "What is that?"
Inside Iczer Robo, Nagisa felt knowledge flooding into her on how to pilot the robot and a strange sense of strength.
You can do this, Nagisa. I believe in you, as you believed in me.
Nagisa gripped the controls of Iczer Robo and glared at the Angel. She felt immense loads of anger that this creature would attack Earth. Unlike Earth mecha, the Iczer Robo could use human emotions as a power source, so it could use Nagisa's anger. As streams of energy started pouring from Iczer Robo, the Angel activated its AT field.
Nagisa shouted, "Go away!"
A beam of golden energy was blasted from the arms of Iczer Robo. It impacted against the Angel's AT field. However, instead of harmlessly blocking the attack, the Angel was out of Tokyo-3 like a pinball being shot from the chute.
Maya numbly said, "Angel is now ten kilometers outside of Tokyo-3."
The NERV personnel could just watch as Iczer Robo turned into a golden ball of light and chased after the Angel.
Before Sachiel could get its AT field back up, Iczer Robo pounced on it. The alien mecha grabbed Sachiel by the head and smashed it against the side of a mountain. Iczer Robo marched up to the reeling Angel and launched a powerful punch at the Angel. Iczer Robo's hand went through the Angel's S2 engine and out of the back of the Angel. The Angel slumped in death. After withdrawing its arm, Iczer Robo turned into blue light and faded back into subspace, leaving Nagisa behind.
Nagisa looked up at the Angel and then down at her hands. "What's happening to me?"
You are changing, Nagisa. You are becoming like me, Nagisa. As you remember more, you will understand.
Nagisa took one more look at the Angel before passing out due to exhaustion.
Back in NERV HQ, Gendo ordered, "Get someone out there and bring that girl in. There are some questions that need answers. As to EVA-01, have Shinji practice with it."
Gendo left the command room and headed to his office, deep in thought.
"That giant robot is going to throw everything off. Where did it come from? How did that girl call upon it? How could the Dead Sea Scrolls be silent about something like this?"
