The year is Cosmic Era 71; a war has been going on between the Earth-based North Atlantic Federation/Earth Alliance Forces, and those of the PLANT-based forces of ZAFT. This conflict’s seeds were sown unknowingly by one man named George Glenn. Glenn was a man of many amazing achievements; he then revealed to the world those achievements were possible because he was a Coordinator, a human who had genetic enhancements done to him prior to birth.
As a result of the genetic enhancements, a Coordinator is smarter, stronger, and even with internal biology are superior to Naturals, who are non-enhanced humans. As a result of Glenn’s confession a sweep of people wanted to have their children enhanced into Coordinators, and soon the population of Coordinators mirrored those of Naturals.
However this was not all roses and lavender, problems arose. A rift between Coordinators and Naturals was created due to cases of condescendence on the Coordinator’s part, and intense jealousy and fear on the Naturals end. This problem became worse when a radical Anti-Coordinator organization called Blue Cosmos was formed; whose purpose was to spread all sorts of Anti-Coordinator propaganda, as well as find and kill any Coordinators in sight. This radical group also entrenched its clutches into the Atlantic Federation and thus steered many of its high ranking members into their way of thinking; which in turn made it easier to legally hassle Coordinators.
The assassination of George Glenn sure as hell didn’t help matters either.
The Coordinators took to space, living in large Colony-like structures called PLANTS, for a time things cooled down but then IT happened.

Muruta Azrael, the current leader of Blue Cosmos using his influence within the Atlantic Federation was able to arrange a nuclear missile to be launched at the PLANT as a pretense of a warning from a recent disagreement between the PLANT leaders and the Alliance.
This act sparked a full-blown war. Creating Neutron Jammers, ZAFT launched them to Earth imbedding them deeply into the Earth’s surface. The N-Jammers main purpose was to negate the use of nuclear weapons or power sources. This rendered the Alliance’s nuclear arsenal useless and put Earth into an energy crisis with its nuclear power sources cut off.
The superior technology of the Coordinators proved to give ZAFT an upper hand, especially when their Mobile Suits were introduced into battle and proved to overpower anything the Alliance had.
In response, the Alliance started a Mobile Suit program of their own in secret on the neutral nation of Orb’s colony, Heliopolis. However ZAFT got wind of this and sent a special team to capture/destroy the new Alliance machines. They succeeded in capturing four of the five machines, while the fifth machine code-named the Strike fell into the hands of Kira Yamato, a Coordinator as well which aided him in being able to pilot the machine superbly.
This is how Seed started and now this is where the storyteller(‘s) can add on or re-create this magnificent series as they please.
