The school had a definite interest in keeping their students, particularly those surviving MALE students, healthy and fit. They were indulged in any number of ways and kept track of.
There had been four attempts to take Ranma Saotome by the end of the first month, but the security was fairly tight and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the aim of those rifle-carrying women whose job was to assure the safety of those boys within the school area.
Of course, Japan had some pretty strict gun control laws. Those expert snipers were from the JSDF, Special Branch 9, which was charged with the protection of Japan's male population from predation.
Ranma wanted to be a martial artist? That was perfectly fine to those in charge. Ideal in fact, as being able to fight back against attackers meant a measure of safety.
Balanced meals, lots of food, regular exercise, intensive training, even secrets of various martial arts - if it could be acquired it was provided.
Ranma learned that his teachers and counselors were disappointed if he didn't learn some regular schoolwork as well, so he paid attention. Some. A bit. He didn't fall asleep THAT much at least. They DID try to make it interesting.
