Okay, so there was still a chance that the boy would be able to marry one of Tendo's daughters, but by the time that even the first would be available, his son would be twenty, and he would be twenty-six by the time that Akane returned to her old age. Though, she might not be returning to her old self though, as there was some sort of silly 'mental regression' thing going on. He wasn't too sure that he believed all that babble, but he did see the effect that those other girls, and, more importantly, the old hag, were having on what had been the youngest Tendo daughter, a position which Nabiki, who would be available for marriage when his son would be twenty-eight, had taken. As a result, he could either wait for Kasumi to come of age, hoping that her sense of duty would combine with seeing the boy as an 'older man', or he could see about moving on to other pastures.
Sighing to himself, he sat on the floor and felt properly disgusted with what he'd have to do. Much as he did not like the idea of not following his agreement with Soun, he needed to get his son married soon. All his plans had been based on the idea of getting the boy to marry right after the training trip. This way, he'd be set to be a great martial artist, and could be immediately dropped into the wedding. It wouldn't be like the boy had any other real relationships with girls to bother with, and this would make it easier on everyone. Of course, the boy would have, and did, fight it, but he was certain that he come around soon.
With the situation as it was now, he wasn't sure that such would continue to be the case. His son was getting harder to control, and would be a legal adult all too soon. To do things properly, and to secure a good enough of a retirement, he had to make his son settle down with the right girl. And, sadly enough, that would mean that he'd have to go to his secondary plans, so that his future.
Besides, a Nodoka with a married son would not be a swordbearing Nodoka.
Once upon a time, Ranma would have thought that being without any sorts of romance trouble would be a blessing. He wouldn't have any fiancees wanting him to get intimate, yelling at him, fighting over him, or all the other problems that had come up ever since he'd discovered that his father had engaged him. Having their attentions was nice, and he had actually liked them, but had not enjoyed the problems that had come along with it. The idea that they could actually get along and not be bothering him for dates all the time was an appealing one.
It was just too bad that the idea and the reality were two separate entities.
As he lay back on the floor of the Tendo family room, Ranma found himself, well... bored. Akane, Ukyo and Kodachi had joined Shampoo in their own little Amazon training group, and were basically enjoying the chance to just be little girls. They still really liked him, but it was more in the way of wanting to play with him and looking up with him with the sort of gaze that oddly made him want to think 'Well, gosh darn...' Cologne had seemed to given up on trying to push him into marrying Shampoo at the moment since Amazon laws did not include marrying children, which meant that Mousse, who was now having to deal with a love that was a little girl, was very out of luck. Then there was Kuno, who apparently was still sulking over getting forcibly aged, and the old freak, who'd been shipped off again to who knew where. About the only person available for what had become a traditional fight was Ryoga, and that particular idiot was still able to get lost in a room labeled with directions.
That meant that everything was pretty calm at the moment. The incident with the old pervert had been a highlight of the day, as it meant something was going on. Otherwise everything was almost... normal, as in the sort of 'normal' that most other people had going for them. But to him, it meant that things stayed dull, without a fight or a chase to stir up the old adrenaline. Things just stayed quiet, and, other than the depression of some guys over 'losing' all those pretty girls, and the girls at school seeming to stare at him for some reason, there was none of the life that had permeated things before. Basically, he was becoming just another one of the guys, or as much as someone capable of leaping onto rooftops, breaking concrete with blows, or doing special techniques could be.
And, other than a lack of the stress that had come over things now, there wasn't much that he'd gotten from it.
That made him have to deal with being stuck with a rather dull time in his life while:
