Gel gave a wan smile. "I will Grandmother. Take care of Shampoo for me."
"Certainly. Take care of yourself."
"I always do."
Six weeks later, Gel stood at the edge of the sea with her hands on a railing as she looked out at the sunset upon the waters. There was a bittersweet bemusement as she stood on that man made walkway. She had always wished to at least see the sea once with her husband, but that simply would never be. And she was not in her home village with the hand made homes, but the glass and steel that was this city of Tokyo.
If she had wished to find a place that was as different as she could find, there was not a better place. Here the pace was fast, and the world artificial, but she drew comfort from that. She might be homesick, but the difference managed to keep her occupied and somewhat intruiged.
But this was a time and a place for lovers and she was not one anymore. She was simply a traveler trying to find her way after losing it so long ago. Or at least that was how it felt. So, it was with a sigh that she left her spot and:
