There was Tao, a warforged monk - which to Ranma meant he was some kinda robot martial artist. He had some skills, and was an apt pupil - but Ranma was still unsure how to adapt training techniques. It had been Tao who had handled the finances at first, including getting them set up as an adventurer's group registered through Clifftop - which apparently had gotten them some serious discounts on local gear and contacts.
Ranma checked his notes. The next one was a half-elf gal named Aerith Gainsborough who was a white mage sort who worked for the church of Olladra. A goddess of feasting. Hey, that was kinda neat. He could do feasts.
Aerith's boyfriend was a swordsman named Cloud Strife but the guy was kinda missing a few gears. Oh he was human, not like Tao, but apparently something happened to him that turned his memory to swiss cheese during the Final War. Despite that, and he seemed kinda brooding/quiet - he was all right from what little interaction Ranma had done with him.
If nothing else, it was interesting to watch someone ELSE with girl problems.
The gal named Tifa Lockheart was apparently ALSO Cloud's girlfriend. Neither Tifa nor Aerith got too pushy with each other regarding Cloud, for one thing his confusion and frequent migraines and that he couldn't remember much ANYTHING from before he stumbled out of a battlefield in Cyre one day, tended to keep any animosity between the two muted. Well, that and you could tell there was an undercurrent of friendship between the two as well.
Those three had gotten together following some big disaster in Cyre, linking up despite being of different units. Tifa had been with some guy named Barret who was managing a bar somewhere nowadays and some other folk who apparently hadn't made it.
There was the little drow elf sneakthief Yuffie. Apparently she'd gotten to know them all at one point, and the impression Ranma had gotten from the others was that she was kinda like Nabiki. Watch to make sure your possessions stayed yours and don't trust her as far as you could throw her, but she was okay outside of that.
Cid wasn't nominally one of their group. He was the captain, the engineer, and the owner of the airship Highwind which was taking them to Xen'drik. He made it clear, he considered the ship and transport his responsibility and he wasn't going to do the adventuring stuff. That was where Ranma's group came into the deal.
There was also a General Celes of Cyre, which was a kingdom that didn't exist any more. She was accompanying them for this mission, the details of which she'd give out when they actually reached Xen'drik.
Ranma was enjoying the airship travel. From the way she was limply hanging over the railing, held onto the ship by a tether, Yuffie was not so much enjoying the travel as enjoying being unconscious at present.
