Commander Michelle Wayne glanced at the clock to note the time. 'About 1407 hours.' One more sweep of the area should do it before her GuAIZ patrol squadron could head back in. She activated her suit's communication unit to radio her other four teammates. "Report in, team."
"All quiet on my end," replied Duncan Andersen. "By the way, I'm curious if you're interested in having dinner with me sometime this week?"
"No hitting on the commander, Dunk," said Rachel Fyria in an amused tone. "And I haven't detected any strange activity in my sector."
Mark Stone reported in next. "My radar's picking the usual transport ships travelling in and out of the area. Nothing out of the ordinary."
"I don't have anything on...hold on a bit. My radar's detecting some weapons fire. Looks like a standard rail cannon but I don't know who's involved in the battle!" exclaimed Sharon Jones.
"Do you know where the fighting is coming from?" asked Michelle.
"Seems to be somewhere near Armory 01, madam! I can't get any specific coordinates, though," replied Sharon.
"Alright. Let's find out what's going on and assess the situation before joining in the fray. Let's go!!" Commander Wayne's white coloured GuAIZ suit blasted off towards Armory 01.
"So much for spending the rest of the afternoon making plans to customize my GuAIZ," muttered Mark before he followed his team.
**********
"We've got confirmation that the Freedom has launched, sir!" reported one of the GINN pilots to Akira.
Akira quickly formulated a plan. "Alright. All GINN units focus your firepower on the Eternal. Try and see if you can breach any weakened hull sections that have been created by our ships. Hugo, Leo...you're with me! We're taking out the Freedom! And one more thing, Hugo...watch where you're shooting. We don't want another friendly fire incident like last time."
"Acknowledged!" The Juggernaut, the Gargoyle and the Eden flew towards the Freedom while the other GINN units headed towards the Eternal.
"Eat this!!" Leo activated his VBAW gauntlets to create a pair of beam sabres before he swung at the Freedom. Kira adjusted his speed to carefully dodge Leo's attack and fired his "Lupus" beam rifle to force Leo backwards. His computer systems then warned him of an incoming attack from the side. Kira barrel-rolled the Freedom to dodge Hugo's micro-missiles before he felt the suit shake from the impact of the Gargoyle's beam rifle.
'Damn!!' He glanced quickly to see the status of the Eternal and they weren't holding out too well. Without the METEORs, the Eternal's firepower and defensive capabilities are weakened. Kira looked back at his three opponents who prepared to attack him again. "You won't get the Eternal!!" A seed exploded in front of his eyes before Kira activated the Freedom's HiMAT mode. The twin "Baleena" plasma beam cannons mounted themselves over his shoulders while the "Xiphias" rail cannon spread out along with the wings. The pilot then let loose with his firepower to force the enemy to retreat back.
"Whoa!!" Akira quickly activated a command to have the Gargoyle's wings detach before forming a large shield. "Careful, guys! Those weapons pack a punch!!"
"I've got an even more powerful punch than him! Observe!" Hugo fired his two double-barreled hyper beam rifles but the Freedom weaved in and out of them at an amazing speed before continuing to fire.
"The hell?!? That guy's reaction time must have spiked to pull that off!!" Leo directed his suit to put some distance between himself and the Freedom.
"Is this what Steamhein was meant when he talked about the...?" Akira shook his head to focus on his enemy. "It doesn't matter if the guy's filled with adrenaline or not. He'll still go down!!"
