Gundam Seed - After War: Help to the Archangel. [Episode 140062]

by Ninja Kasuga of the Demonite Race

“Damn-it-all-to-HELL!” Dearka shouted as he combined his gun launcher and energy rifle into one cannon and let loose a cannon-spray at the squad of GINN’s and DoMZ giving him and Yzak no amount of trouble. His beam-spray got two of the GINN’s dead on, but the DoMZ among them boosted to safety. “Damn, those new black suits are fast!”

”Not to mention heavily armed!” Yzak called over the radio as he dodged several beam shots from two DoMZ. “Two of them are toting beam cannons and the other two have high-powered beam rifles!”

Dearka growled and fired another beam-spray blast but once again the two DoMZ he was aiming for got out of the way, but at least he got another GINN. “Damn, at this rate we’ll waste our batteries just trying to hit those new suits.”

Murrue held onto her seat as the Archangel shook violently from a missile striking her. “Damn, what’s the status of the Duel and Buster?”

”They’re having trouble with the four unidentified mobile suit types Captain. So far the GINNs have been taken out but those four new machines aren’t pushovers.” Miriallia reported from her station.

”Any sign of ZAFT reinforcements?”

Miriallia shook her head. ”Negative, and the jamming interference is still in effect, so any long-range communications with anyone besides our mobile suits is cut off.”

“Damn they really got us with our pants down.” Arnold grumbled as he shifted the Archangel’s bow to avoid some missiles and beam fire.

Sai winced as the ship shook again. “Damn they’re good.”

A few “Huh’s” chorused from the crew.

“Our enemies really have their act together. The fact nobody has noticed the battle or has gotten suspicious of the radar and radio jamming proves they must have very effective moles in ZAFT diverting attentions away from us.” Sai explained as the ship rocked again. “Not only has Obsidian Abyss managed to conceal their existence up until several weeks ago but they’ve managed to amass a lot of military hardware that is pretty hard to hide. Add to their successful thefts of the other three nuclear powered Gundam suits, and their surprise attacks and assassination attempts on the Secretary General…these guys aren’t just for show.”

”That’s all well and good Sai but what does that objective information have to do with our battle?” Murrue asked, wondering where Sai was going with this.

”Ma’am there’s no debris to keep them covered or hide their presence from radar in the relative space of the PLANTS. Their ships weren’t even spotted approaching they just appeared on radar…I think their ships must have Mirage Colloid technology.”

“But how could they outfit a ship with such a complex system?” Jackie exclaimed.

“GENESIS had a Mirage Colloid system…” Miriallia murmured as she started to connect the dots Sai had laid out.

“I’d bet the budget cost of constructing a PLANT that Obsidian Abyss either helped build GENESIS, or had moles that were able to acquire the data on how they adopted it to such a massive weapon, and in turn found a way to make a system for spaceships.” Sai said grimly. “I had a talk with Kou back at the resort, he said from data he hacked that Obsidian Abyss had at least one mole in every weapons and munitions company that worked with ZAFT to make mobile suits, battleships, and other weapons. Meaning they have access to top-level PLANT war technology, and they even moles in the Earth Forces to steal their technology.”

Murrue frowned, biting her lip softly. “So in short they’ve got us by a technological and strategic advantage, damn.” Murrue then thought of something. “Do you think they probably sent a team to attack the Eternal?”

”Mostl likely, otherwise they’d have rushed to our aide.” Sai replied. “So far other than those four unknown machines we haven’t seen those three Gundam types. I bet they were sent to attack the Eternal.”

“Hit both ships while we’re vulnerable, and disable all means of reinforcements…these bastards are slick.” Arnold muttered.

“Shit! I lost one of the enemy suits!” Miriallia exclaimed. “It just went off the radar and- oh my God its right above the bridge!”

”WHAT?” Murrue looked up at the ceiling of the bridge, the viewing monitors filled with the DoMZ above them wielding a high-powered-recoilless beam cannon; which was aimed at them and charging up. “Shoot it down quick!!”

“There’s no time to re-aim!”

Just as the energy-beam was ready to leave the cannon’s barrel, a hail of beam-shots tore into the cannon, causing it to explode and take the DoMZ’s arms with it. The DoMZ barely had time to see its attacker which was the Blue Frame, equipped with its Second G backpack unit and wielding duel beam machineguns. Holstering one of the guns, it reached behind to draw a beam saber and slash the DoMZ in half, the two halves exploding right after.

The radio on the Archangel crackled to life. “This is Blue Frame pilot Gai Murakumo of Serpent Tail. Archangel, we’re here to aide you.”

Murrue let out a sigh of relief. “We read you Blue Frame, the help is much appreciated.”

“Just stay on your toes, my partner and I will help out your mobile suits while our surprise gets into position.” Gai informed.

“Surprise?”

“Let’s just say those two Laurasia-class won’t know what hit em’.”

Rubbing the back of his helmet, Athrun groaned light in mild pain. “Urgh damn what a blast.” He grunts as he regains his wits. He looks into the Justice’s monitors; the first obvious thing he noticed was that he was inside the hanger of Armory 01. The second thing he noticed was that the hanger door had caved in, a huge amount of debris keeping him inside the hanger. “Damn, there’s no way I can dig through all that without weapons.”

As the Justice floated backwards, Athrun felt his mobile suit brush against something. “What the hell?” He turns and his eyes widen. “The METEOR! It wasn’t damaged in the blast! This is just what I need!” His hopes renewed, Athrun moves the Justice to dock with the mobile-weapons unit. However the smile on his face became a frown as the display came up. “Fuck, the combat OS hasn’t been fully booted and integrated…and the connection circuits that link the Justice to the METEOR’s weapons systems isn’t properly configured either.” Athrun pulled down the command keyboard and started typing furiously. “I have to hurry and get the METEOR up and online so I can get out of here and help the others. I just hope Kira and the Eternal can hold out until I get this thing up and running.”

“So how is he?”

Cagalli looked at the door as Erica entered the room. The young woman sighed and continued to stroke the sleeping Kou’s hair as the young Coordinator was half asleep on her lap. “Sleeping now…as you saw earlier he was shaken up pretty badly. Not that he killed anyone but that he couldn’t save those kids or the other bystanders who got killed by that bazooka round.” She looks at Kou for a moment. “Sorta reminds me of Kira except it wasn’t killing an enemy he met face to face that’s troubling him.”

The engineer nods in understanding. “Even with his skills as a pilot he’s still young, kids his age shouldn’t be exposed to such…cruelty.”

“Hell even grown adult don’t need to see that.” Cagalli sighed, thinking for a moment before speaking. “Erica, Kou mentioned he saw a “seed” that exploded into flashes of starlight in his mind before he lashed out.” The Orb Princess bit her lip. “It’s the same thing I saw when Juri, Asagi and Mayura were killed, and Athrun and Kira both told me they’d seen the same thing before.”

Erica raised a curious eyebrow, “A seed that explodes into starlight in your mind?” She taps her chin in thought. “That reminds me of something I overheard Reverend Malchio say once when he came to discuss something with Lord Izumi. Hmm, call it a hunch but I think since we’re on Earth and we know the good Reverend returned to Earth before we did, we might want to give him a call about this seed thing.”

Watching the two Laurasia-class ships limp away from the battlefield, Dearka let out a large sigh of relief as he slumped in his seat. “Oh man that was tough. It’s a good thing you Serpent Tail guys showed up.”

”Just happy to help,” Gai replied over the com-channel with a chuckle. With the combined efforts of Blue Frame, the Duel, Buster and Elijah’s GINN-custom, the three remaining DoMZ fell quickly, and a sneak-attack by the Viper allowed the Archangel to badly damage the two Obsidian Abyss ships who decided to cut their losses and turn tail.

“I’m curious, why does a mercenary unit butt its nose into a battle like this? Did someone pay you to come help us?” Yzak asked a little suspiciously of the Serpent Tail merc.

“Actually from what I can gather nobody else knew you guys were in a jam, we came to help of our own accord.” Elijah answered as his GINN floated close to the Duel.

“Why help when there’s no money to be gained?”

”We maybe mercenaries but we don’t want the genocidal conflict of the last war to continue. War is profitable but at the same time we’re not blood-mongers, we don’t want war anymore than you do.” Gai states firmly. “And apparently your enemies are dead-set on restating the war; so in my view of things that makes us allies.”
