1959 - The Salusian Free Trader Wainevurr crashed on Earth with a cargo of thirty tons of aromatic woods from Planet Rahnfa and a crew of thirty (six male, twenty-four female).1964 - Steddman Vs Salusia. Salusian sponsorship of Earth into the Interstellar Conglomerate meets its first roadblock in an anti-alien-interest lawsuit blocking nonhumans from dispersing into the general populace. Result is a non-release agreement whereby Salusian technology and culture is "filtered out" to avoid undue influence on human development.
1970 - Salusian advisors accompany Space Shuttle Discovery into geosynch orbit.
1979 - Battle Of Ross 128 Zardon battlecruiser Kwathqinn breaks a cease-fire and targets the Salusian cruiser Nerrkurr which has three humans aboard in civilian roles. After a brief skirmish, both sides retract their troops.
1985 - Engagement of Princess Asrial of Salusia to Jeremy Feeple of Earth.
1986 - Engagement of Ranma Saotome of Japan to Lady Winry Rockbell of Salusia.
Ranma knew that he was engaged. He didn't completely, certainly not intellectually, understand all the implications thereof. He also knew that Winry was not human.
Yeah she had blonde hair and blue eyes, but she also had black-white fur and a big fluffy tail.
Even when she was transmogrified to human (the better to fit in) she still had Salusian ears.
Winry also knew she was engaged to Ranma. She knew that this was done for a variety of reasons, but she also liked the young boy - even if she thought he was very weird.
"Gravity field on," said Winry, "setting for a value of four."
"I can hardly feel it," said Ranma, walking around the room.
"Setting for a value of six," said Winry, making an adjustment.
"Can't get much of a workout this light," said Ranma, jumping up and down.
Winry noticed the loud thump, the short jumps, and figured Ranma was just being weird. "Okay. Moving to maximum. Fifteen."
THUMP!
"maybe a little less than that," grunted Ranma.
"What do you mean my son is in outer space?" asked Genma.
"He wanted some advanced training and fighting techniques," said the old-looking skunk-man. "Since he was Rockbell's fiance and all, it was okayed by the brass."
"He can't leave to go off into outer space!" exclaimed Genma.
"He'll only be gone a year," said the old guy.
"You don't understand," said Genma. "A year is too long-"
