Alchemists, botanists, various and sundry Crafters of the Arts Magickal of the not-very-well-known kind--Severus knew a unbelievable number of people, that was to be sure. Even the minor fact that at least half of then looked even more out of place then Tom Riddle the Apocatharist did didn't make the selection any less impressive, in his opinion.
Though it did make him wonder just how far Severus had had a hand in organizing today's extravaganza...
If only it wasn't, well, right now.
Of all the times Severus had to pick to try to be a good--host? inviter? whatever it was--
Why now, dear universe?
Not that he let any of those kinds of thoughts show, of course. Tom Riddle the Apocatharist should have been happy beyond measure to make those kinds of contacts, and besides, he didn't want to discourage poor Severus. It was wonderous enough that he was trying to do the mannerly thing for a change.
Oh, he should be truthfull, at least with himself, he supposed. It was just hellish not to be able to just throw himself into shop-talk and networking, damnit.
If only there weren't so many other balls in the air to balance--
The blue-eyed Nadja-lookalike was nowhere to be seen at the moment, as was the Hermann lookalike. Though it looked like Rosemary was beginning to circlate, Alex at her side--
Ahh, well. Things would go as they must, he supposed.
Though he really, really wanted to get a hold of the Nadja-lookalike girl before Rosemary caught sight of her...
At last, it seemed to be over. Tom sighed, watching Severus talking about something that even he could barely understand, throwing his arms about avidly, and slowly drifted away to the banquet table. A stiff drink or three would serve him well, now...
Or so he hoped.
In vain, as it turned out.
