That was why the fact that there were these power enhancing 'Runes' around attracted him. They would make his son more powerful with less effort, and once his boy had the abilities that one would give him, he could gear at least part of the training towards maximizing the combat use of it. And the more powerful the Rune, the better, as it would make his boy stronger than anyone else.
He'd heard about these places where special Runes had been kept, and had thought that it would be a simple matter of getting one so that his son could use something that others would have no choice but to be in awe of.
Had he known of the fact that some of these Runes were actually dangerous to the user, and that they could have certain... 'effects', he would never have gone after them.
But, as with the 'Nekoken' training he would have used had he not transported himself and his son to this world, he hadn't checked out all the facts. Otherwise, he would have known that he'd found a 'True Rune' for his boy. That alone would have impressed him, as each one was a power unto itself, but it brought the added problem of being the sort of thing that wars were started over gaining them. He'd not only brought his boy into contact with something that made good people do bad things to get, but didn't know if it would have any sort of nasty effects on the boy either. Worst of all, there were True Runes that could chose things for themselves. Hell, he didn't even know that such Runes had a habit of extending their bearers' lives... and keeping them at the age they were at when they got them.
