To be a man in this time is to be one of untold billions. It is to live under the thumb of the cruelest, bloodies, and most tyrannical regime ever. But despite its countless horrors, the Imperium is the lesser of many great evils. The Great Devourer, the monstrous Tyranids, come from beyond the galaxy seeking to consume all that exists to feed their endless hunger. The bestial Orks, half-crazed primitives who's greatest lust for war, which sends endless "Waaagh!"s crashing into human worlds, seeking to conquer or destroy all. The mysterious Eldar, whose actions are a mystery to all but themselves. The ancient and mysterious Necrons, who rise from tombs sealed at the dawn of creation. Worst of all though, is the corruption of Chaos, the power of Dark Gods of the Warp. They are nothing less than the legions of hell its self, seeking to corrupt and conquer all of creation.
Humanity's future is far from sure, despite valiant effort by the Emperor's servants, each year more worlds are lost. Each year the light of the Emperor grows dimmer. Each year the enemies of mankind gather like vultures as the threat of endless night presses in. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for there is no peace among the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of dark gods.
In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war…
… and in a distant, pocket dimension, a small cat gazed into a pool of water and smiled.
"This looks like fun…"
