Michiru Kaioh, she was allowed to keep her last name due to the fact that she was an honor slave, was calmly sitting down in the slave kennel that her master's father had left her at. Currently she was in the process of fine tuning her violin which Ranma had gotten for her after he found out about her love of music. Although she didn't care too much for Genma Saotome, Michiru greatly admired and respected her master Ranma.
Being honest with herself, Michiru had never expected to become a slave. The Kaiohs an old family with 'old money' and had been that way for over 100 years. While not as rich as some western families like the Hilton or the Rockefeller clans to name a few, the Kaiohs were still quite wealthy. In fact, the news that a Kaioh was currently a slave had caused quite a stir among the wealthy circles in Japan. However, Michiru mused, the reason behind her becoming a slave was even more shocking than the fact itself.
About a year and a half ago, Michiru and her entire family had been kidnapped by 'The Mongol'. The Mongol was the name of the most feared crime boss in all of the Far East. Her father had been using some of the family money in order to hunt down The Mongol's shadowy trade routes into Japan because the criminal routes were hurting some of the Kaioh's business deals.
By chance, The Saotomes had been in the same town that she and her family were being held at in order to attend a tournament. Ranma had heard that a crime boss was holding some people against their will and had decided to show his disapproval. Using the two sen kens, Ranma forced his way into The Mongol's fortress and freed the Kaiohs.
Due to his rescuing the entire family, and in the process putting The Mongol's entire organization the Black Horde in jail, the Kaioh family was left with a major honor debt towards Ranma. Among the higher level families, honor debts were normally handled by giving the person that they owed a debt one of the family slaves. However, the older and more conservative members of the Kaioh clan had stated that just giving Ranma any slave wouldn't remove the honor debt that was owed. Long into the night while Ranma slept on the couch they let him crash on, the family argued as to how to pay off the debt.
Finally one member of the family, Michiru couldn't remember who, had suggested that one of the family member's become his slave to help pay off the honor debt. The family quickly accepted that the idea was a great one but were unsure of which one among them to offer as a slave. Coming foward herself, Michiru offered to become Ranma's slave. When asked why she was making such an offer, Michiru's cheeks turn a bit red. She then explained that one of The Mongol's men had been about to rape her when Ranma came in, killed the jerk, and tossed her a blanket to cover herself up while looking away. Everyone was outraged at the attempted rape, but the family applauded Ranma's handling of the situation and accepted Michiru's reasoning that she was the most in debt to Ranma and thus was the one to be his slave.
Over all, her life as Ranma's slave wasn't too bad. He was courteous to her and treated her like a friend and equal; something that some of her cousins didn't do for their female slaves. Also, Ranma respected her as a person and tried to arranged it so that she would have plenty of opportunities to visit her family. With a smile on her face Michiru wondered-
